I don't want to be the guy who goes "He started it!" or whatever, but until both sides started slinging insults we were just debating back and forth. It wasn't until later that it turned into 'Hate on Altima Redux'. We at least still attempted to discuss the topic amidst the personal insults.

How dreamlike to see my x-sisters, outside the context of a Papa Song dome. They sang Papa Song’s Psalm, over and over; background hydraulics underbassed that sickening melody. But how jubilant they sounded! Their Investment was paid off. The voyage to Hawaii was under way, and their new life on Xultation would shortly begin... Watching them from the hangway, I envied their certainty about the future.

Droog, there's nothing for you or Holly to worry about. It's clear that Altima's the one at fault here, and this administration isn't in the habit of blaming everyone who was involved in any way shape or form.

Well...........i don't know what to say now lol
I guess i'll just admit that i don't buy any anime, i either upload, download or borrow it from friends. Since i only work one day a week and half of my pay goes into a savings account instead of my spending account i can't afford to buy dvd's especially if they are over $40 per volume (i don't remember what they are actually priced over here). Although i have some vouchers for a store so im planning to buy atleast one anime box set. I understand uploading or downloading may be regarded as 'stealing' by some people but if the dvd prices are high i dont see any problem with it, it's just a way for me to save my money to do other stuff, such as going out with friends or buying games instead ![]() Regarding manga...........i don't read it anyway lol |

Ultimately depends on content and how they're feeling though as; Ben 10: 19.95 Robot Chicken: $34.95 .hack//roots complete $99.95 Ultimately they try to work on 3.99 / $4.00 an episode. |

Boxsets are usually reasonably priced compared to how much it would cost to buy each dvd seperate
Either that or i could go to Box Hill and go to the dodgy asian anime store and get pirated versions of the dvd's lol |

Well i paid the price for watching downloaded anime i borrowed from my friend
Today when i was watching it the screen kept freezing while the sound continued as normal, this meant i missed a lot of the subtitles during the episode. Although for some reason my friend has no problem with it and im using the same media player as him! Maybe it's just my computer, it's getting pretty old |

If it were the anime...Then your friend wouldn't be able to watch it either. My PC often messes up like that and I have to restart it. Heck, even happens with DVD's sometimes. |

Could always look out for Chinatown, especially considering Chinese new years is fast approaching as well for stalls and such (just be sure to check the merchandise) either way importing outside of Minotaur ends up being cheaper than buying from Madman outside of sale periods, and also usually buying from JB is cheaper than buying from Madman direct if you're after the English dub. Anyway, on the subject of falling & failings. Generational change is the culprit. Originally anime that was released revolved around the mechanation or annihilation scenarios, "classics" like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Spriggen all adhered to this theorem of using mechs or using doom. Then along came the modernisation of the English "culture" with it to include the genres and they began to sell. You had the comedies, romances, thrillers, the more perverse, dramas and so on and so forth which lead to a wider audience but less focus on each individual genre. This then lead to broader sales but overall probably lesser emphasis on quality. In addition to this you had far more companies attempting "epics" and you had expansions. Rounin Kenshin & Tekkaman Blade were epics in regards to length, both had expansions int he Samurai X line up of movies or the Tekkaman Blade 2 "sequel" but they were few and far between. Then pops up a series of GitS, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, another GitS, X got a series because the ending was anti climactic and so on so forth which further specialised and divided the market, there is only so much cash that can go around on a hobby afterall. With the segregation that was already existing with the dub or sub argument, availability of which was randomised depending on nationalities as far as local purchase goes, plus more and more "epics" pushing the mainstream and the use of filler (which arguably DB/Z championed in Western nations) lead to the eventual weening off of the purists (these is only so many times you can see NGE or see it remade and remastered alongside Gasaraki, FMP and Macross for instance before you simply buy the series and divide your attentions for another release) But now with the financial crisis, this is not just a consumer problem but a viability problem. The distributor who has monopoly ownership will remain because they can afford to let a few titles go through at a higher price. The developer who gets paid and pay for rights for advertising, tv time and then shipping has to hike prices or cut distribution to remain viable and we may yet see another change in the demographics of what is delivered offshore at what pricing and how frequently. |
