Star Ocean: The Last Hope sails onto PS3 Feb. 9

Square Enix and Tri-Ace's onetime Xbox 360-only JRPG given worldwide 2010 release date on Sony's console.

Historically, Tri-Ace's Japanese role-playing game franchise Star Ocean had been limited to Sony's platforms. So it was mildly surprising when Microsoft announced a deal with Square Enix to bring Star Ocean: The Last Hope exclusively to the Xbox 360 in February as part of its campaign to woo Japanese audiences.

A space shuttle's durability cannot be understated.

However, even at the time of its announcement, Square Enix indicated that The Last Hope's exclusivity may only be on a temporary basis. Today, Square Enix announced that Star Ocean: The Last Hope International will be available for the PlayStation 3 worldwide on February 9. Square Enix did not indicate what, if any, enhancements or tweaks have been made to the PS3 edition of The Last Hope versus the 360 edition.

The fourth proper installment in the Star Ocean franchise, the game is set after World War III and follows humankind as it makes its way into outer space. For an idea of what to expect from Star Ocean: The Last Hope International on the PS3,

Good job on getting it on the Ps3 Sony, better late than never I guess.

Too bad SO4 sucked, regardless of a PS3 part.

Horrible characters, story, and several freezing glitches.

The characters were, despite their blandness, at least done well. But otherwise, yeah, the game certainly isnt worth picking up twice he was SO3 was.

You would assume critical bugs would be ironed out in a complete rewrite of the code to a blue-ray disc while they are in there tweaking changes / alterations / graphic call up / etc. If anything the freezing glitches is possibly to do with the timed exclusive status purchased by Microsoft where they might have been given a "playable beta" in essence.

Even if they fix the bugs, it doesn't fix the horrible characters and story, even if they add an extra character or two to use.

yeah I only watched it on a youtube lets play since I do not own a 360 and my sister was not paying full RRP for it on the 360 primarily due to the demo she downloaded and then me telling her it wasn't worth $100. Still, bugs should be ironed on on the PS3 int he current capacity if the code monkeys are any good at their job.

Hmm I never had any glitch with that game.

Magna Carta 2 (COUGH-THREEEEEE-COUGH) on the other hand.... I had 4 so far. and three happened consecutively in the same boss fight-and caused me to die twice; the other made it impossible to play...

SO4 actually ties in fairly well with the previous games. 'especially so1. Not taking into consideration whether or mot I enjoyed the game, the cameos made it worth it for me.

Hands down the worst SO plot twist was 3. SO4 gave credibility to the UP3.
