It's possible that Xbox could have more developer support because of this system. If someone buys a used game and pays a fee, I'm sure the developer get's part (if not most) of the fee. I mean, they do suddenly have "15 Exclusives, and 8 new IP's for the first year".

Probably the last thing I'd imagine they'd want to do is look at this whole mess and going "hey, that thing that's got everyone in an uproar against Microsoft, let's do that too".

Sony's been pretty quiet about it other than "you can play used games." With the XB1, you can play used games, you just have to pay the fee. It could already be set in motion for Sony. Of course, they could now go back and change it, but Microsoft has been slightly backpedaling, now saying "We know there is some confusion around used games on Xbox One and wanted to provide a bit of clarification on exactly what we’ve confirmed today. While there have been many potential scenarios discussed, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail."

Like I said in the other thread, though, I'm waiting for E3 to make a decision on which one I want. From what I've read Microsoft has made it pretty clear that E3 is where they plan to make the gamers happy.

That doesn't work as a valid excuse for a lot of people. If that release had been at a trade show, then they could maybe get away with that attitude, but that's not what it was presented as. Microsoft's message has been a total mess, with contradicting statements all over the place, and I'm not entirely certain who it is they're even trying to sell to at this point.

Even if this showing wasn't supposed to be "for the gamers" (which is a bad idea regardless to have that be your first impression given if that's a crowd you're trying to sell to), they should have had very clear statements to that effect, and been prepared to answer questions that they had to have known were coming. They clearly weren't, with the reporting being all over the place.

First impressions matter. They've already lost quite a few potential customers due to how bad an impression this has given of the console. That's not the consumers' fault, that's Microsoft's. It's on them to win them back at this point, and they're on an uphill climb from here.

I watched that video, and the guy is right. We do already have other things that do pretty much everything that the Xbox One does. They should have enhanced the features we use instead of giving us yet another way to do the same thing, that we can already do on something else.

The games they show at E3 had better be great, or else Sony is taking round 1 of this next generation, and maybe rounds 2 and 3 as well.

Of course to some people that don't pay much attention to what each console is doing, or who doesn't read reviews or what people are saying, and are either Xbox happy or Sony happy, they will buy which ever company they favor regardless of what they are actualy doing.

Also the part about not having a good internet connection is true, it does hurt the Xbox One consumer base.

For the first few years I played my 360 I didn't even have internet. And it wasn't until a year after I got it that I finally hooked it up and got a XBL subscription. I like the fact I didn't need to get internet to play offline and that's really the way it should be.

I personally lol'd hard at MS' presentation.

A) Because peoples kinects were responding to the stream, so everyone watching it on their 360's encountered problems with anything the followed the presenters saying "Xbox+" such as pauing the stream, disconnecting from live and switching off the unit entirely "Xbox cool"
B) Because said presentation can be summed up in "TV" "television" "sports" "live action show" and "call of duty dog"
C) Because several press members invited tweeted during the presentation "the applause you're hearing is not from the press" and "it appears to be coming from the back of the auditorium where the MS employees are"
D) Because Sony tweeted that they were suing MS for infringing on the Betamax.
E) All of the above

For those that answered E, pat yourselves on the back for a job well done in guessing the correct answer.

As an addendum; No, this is pretty much what I expected from MS, you simply need to lower expectations and realise the 360 launched with a fire hazard for a power brick that somehow made it through testing and immediately launched with subscription models in place. Logical progression is higher anal retention and puckered sphinchters for greater earning potential! Ergo; kinect, multimedia and used game double dipping.

Sony on the other hand did this this gen with the PS3 "hook up enough and help cure cancer!" grand scheming, so the expectation was a throwback to what made them popular; gaming and a gaming library to suit; so they would have to embrace the indie crowd, beef up the machine to match generation expectations and open doors they previously closed.

The problem has been Nintendo, riding the success of the Wii they failed to learn shit (ie just how many people simply ceased using it) and are as such failing so very hard with the Wii-U.

I wouldn't mind target advertising f it weren't for 2 issues;

1) Yes, I'm single, no I don't need internet dating for Asians or whorehouses in my area.
2) I'm also Australian and no history states I have ever left the country so why the fuck am I getting US and Europe ads?

So its less targeting and more, lazy arse practices that shit me. Not that it'd really pass here, hell, our gov is getting rid of gambling during sports matches, which I'm well behind, so they'd suitably ban that too.

So are we really sticking with Xbone?
