The Dreamcatcher Topic
No not the movie. Have you ever had a dream that you swear was real? A dream you want to remember? A reoccurring dream, even? Well in this topic, we can post dreams we had as a way to remember them.
Last Night: Behind a mini golf course there is a house, small and rundown, but still showing signs of someone living in it. It's secluded, hidden by overgrown trees and weeds. There are two ways to get near the house, a narrow forest trail, or through a hole in a fence on the golf course. The fence is off the path of the 18 hole course so very few even know there is a hole there. A man made hole. Large enough for a human to go through with ease. For some reason I go through this hole. I wasn't even minigolfing. I just stand in front of this hole while families and friends laugh and have a good time behind me before casually slipping through the hole and up towards the house. The shutters are drawn and one of the windows is boarded up. I'm drawn to this house and I don't know why. I approach the door. It's a muddy brown and the knob is rusted. I don't bother knocking. The door is, strangely, unlocked. But as I enter I notice it's not that strange. Rust covers the keyhole below the knob. So much so that a key could not turn the lock. I shut the door behind me, quietly, though I'm sure my presence has been noticed. I don't say anything as I explore the house, though my feet make noise on the creaky wooden floorboards. I arrive in what I assume to be the den. There's an old television, unplugged, sitting on top of an older crate of what once contained Pepsi bottles; as evidenced by the faded old school 'Pepsi' logo adorning the crate. There's a faint smell of talcum powder in the air. I freeze as I hear footsteps approaching me. Looking around me I see a loose piece of wood from the floor. Thick enough to penetrate skin. Long enough to give myself some distance when using it. Of course the owner of this house could have a gun and negate everything. I struggle trying to yank the wood. I break off a considerably smaller piece, though it's still thick and sharp enough to do some bodily harm. "Get out!" a young voice, male, screams. The owner of the voice enters the den. He's balding, though it looks as if he was cutting his own hair. What hair there is is a bright red. He's shirtless and pantless except for old, stained underwear. Sweat is pooling all around his body, giving off a repugnant stench. He has no facial hair but he has scars all over his body. Self inflicted. His eyes are narrow and green. He has no weapon. I say nothing but jump towards him, landing on top of him and bringing him to the hardwood floor. He struggles but I'm stronger as years of inactivity has caused his muscles to decay. I jab the wooden stake through his neck and slowly watch the life, and blood, drain from the man. He stops struggling. He's dead. I get off him and leave him to stew in a pool of his own blood. I enter the kitchen and open the freezer. The reason I came to this house is suddenly made apparent. In the freezer are the heads of small children. Boys and girls. I resist the urge to throw up and close the freezer. I continue towards his room where I freeze as I see the corpse of a child, a large knife wound across the neck and a pool of blood forming around the rear. Even though what this man was doing was fucked beyond all moral comprehension, I still killed a defenseless man in cold blood. There's no law that says you can kill a child molester/murderer in cold blood and get off the hook. Though there were sure to be sympathizers. With the reality of the situation hitting me, I quickly bolt out of the house and run towards the hole in the fence. In my haste I don't notice part of my shirt ripping as I pass through. People no doubt spot me as I rush towards my car and speed off towards my apartment. "As long as I don't get a call from a detective or something, I should be fine," I tell myself as I pull into the parking lot of my apartment complex. I nervously turn the key and open the door to my apartment. The lights are off but I see a faint red glow. It's blinking. I have a new message. With a gulp I walk over and press the button. "Hello, this is Detective Willcox with the Hoffman Police Department. I'd like you to come to the station for some questions regarding the activities of one Anthony Smith. If you could do so immediately it would be great, as we do have a warrant out for your arrest. Let's not make this any harder than it needs to be." I delete the message and start to panic. Suddenly I hear sirens. Loud sirens. Sirens from the parking lot. There's a lot of screaming and suddenly my door is kicked down and four police officers rush into the room and put me in handcuffs. I scream "I'M INNOCENT!" at the top of my lungs as I'm carried away. I then wake up in my bed. It's three in the morning and I can still hear the faint sounds of the podcast I was listening to to help me sleep. I'm breathing heavily. I turn off my iPod, basking in the dim light the screen provides me for five seconds. I wipe the sweat from my forehead. "Nothing to worry about" I tell myself, "I've never killed a man. I'm fine." I put my head on my pillow and slip off into a dreamless sleep for the rest of the night. So let's share some dreams, people

Last night I dreamt that I earned enough money for a 360, but spent it all on shitty DS games.
It was so steeped in reality that it took me probably about ten minutes after I woke up to realize it never happened.

The only recent one that I've had a number of times that seemed real was of me buying a house... but it was in a surreal landscape that couldn't have been real. Think about an old farm house like the one in beetlejuice... but in a landscape like, plains and hills with no end but the sky looks like hubble telescope images with nebulas and stuff. The only thing that happens in the dream is me looking around at everything and being in awe of my surroundings, and exploring a house that is so large that I never finish discovering new rooms before I wake up.
