E3 2005: Final Fantasy XII in 2005
In Japan, of course. US release could follow PS3's debut.

May 18, 2005 - Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced at Sony's PS3-centered pre-E3 press conference that Final Fantasy XII will at long last be seeing its release some time this year. The oft-delayed game will, according to Wada, arrive in 2005. The latest issue of Famitsu confirms that this means a release is possible until March 31, 2006.
This release information applies to Japan only, of course, with the English version of Final Fantasy XII likely to trail the Japanese version by a few months (history would suggest a Christmas 2006 release). While Square Enix hasn't revealed a specific date for the game's US release, Wada's comments at the press conference of his company's pleasure with the PS3's backwards compatibility would suggest that a release after the US debut of the PS3 is not out of the question.
