This is something apparent in many arts in Japan, as the country always held a close bond with Buddhist spirituality. There are many beliefs within our art, though it is not for us to go out of our way for it.
We don't meditate for hours on end doing kuji hand seals - or conduct prayer and ceremony for spirits. What we do is simply train, and show respect to any spirits that may be there.
Our belief truly varies from person to person - but spirituality within us is similar in that we simply respect these spirits, and are aware that there is a higher force out there...with independant entities.
Energy can't be destroyed, and our actions resonate for millennia.
We do have our beliefs, or more simply thoughts....as we think of cetain things.
We will take pictures of a shrine and of the Honbu. Later on they will develop and white spots or orbs will appear - but only in those of the shrine, and on certain people - like Hatsumi soke, or Nagato sensei....
We resently had one very old member die - he had been in the Bujinkan for more than a decade, before he passed we saw the orbs...
The camera may have been dirty, or may have been the light. This is not something new though - there have been other accounts about these orbs. We don't jump at conclusions - we tell stories of how it was believed these were the spirits of past warriors, or ancestors - and that they attached themselves to people. We don't know the truth, and we don't attempt to know. We have our simple beliefs, and then just train - but we keep an open mind, because there a lot that we don't see that these men can.....and we don't know how far it goes - because even they say they can barely see anything.
