So, how many people have played it, and if so, did you like it?

I loved it. Its my favorite gamecube game, and my favorite fighter (although i havent played SC2 yet...). My favorite character is Mewtwo (cuz he just rocks, despite his pokemonish heritage, lol). My favorite level is Fountain of Dreams (the music is kickass, and its a decent battlefield).

So, any thoughts on it? Who was your favorite character, and what was your favorite battlefield?

I think it's one of the better games on the GCN.... just don't dare call it a fighting game. It's a beat-em-up/brawler damn it.

sorry guys... it's not a fighter. and with that logic you could say that Final Fantasy is a fighting game. Take it from someone that knows... it's in the beat-em-up/brawler category, not fighting.

yeah, they're very similar. the only differences is better graphics, more characters, and more moves.

Capitan Falcon is the hero of the F-Zero series.

Captain Falcon is from the F-Zero series. He drives the Blue Falcon.

Captain Falcon is from the F-Zero Series, which started on the SNES. He is from Port Town, but no one knows anything more than that. He drives racer #7, the Blue Falcon. His love interest is Jody Summer, who drives the White Cat, racer #2. His rivals include Samurai Goroh of the Space Vikings, who drives racer #5, The Fire Stingray, as well as Black Shadow, who drives racer #30, the Black Bull.

He is the defending Champion of the F-Zero GP. He was injured one time and while he was hospitalized, Black Shadow stole some of his DNA and cloned him. his son is Kent Akechi.

My fave character is Roy, Marth and Falcon close behind. Love Roy's double-edge dance. His sword is cool looking. Is it the Sword of Seals or Falchion? I forget. For battlefields I love final destination. For pure melees it's the way to go.

yeah.. Roy and Marth are both great. Marth is a bit harder to use.. but that's why I like him.

It's so much fun!! I love making fun of the characters and stuff!
In a good way, of course! If you pause it at certain points, you'll see the funniest of things. We made Gannondorf attack Link and the look on his face and the position they were both in...You'd think it was something else *Laughs* And it was a total accident...We all still cry everytime it's mentioned...Too funny...Too funny...

Anyways, I love playing as Link, Marth, Roy or Pichu! I totally kick butt with those guys! Amazingly though...I'm extremely good with Roy...I remember some of my friends were being really weird but in a good way! We were lik Role Playing while playing it and Marth was sposed to be training Roy, so during this time, I got really used to using him! But I kick butt with all those guys! And people even find it challenging to beat me while I'm Pichu...*Shakes head*

And so you know, Pichu is only as weak as the person using him.
If you know how to use a character, they're as strong as you like.

That's true to a point... but SSBM isn't exactly a balanced game. Some characters are just plain better than others.

Yes but that doesn't actually matter. I can kick ass with Pichu...And Pichu kills itself.

No matter what you're playing, the character is only as strong as the person using them. If you know how to use that character, and you know how to take advantage of their strengths...You can become unbeatable with the weakest. Because each person has their own strength and weaknesses, strength is only what someone generally makes it.

sometimes that's true... in fighters/brawlers that have balance and no character is naturally overpowered or whatever...

but that typically isn't the case... there are very few games like that with that level of balance. two of the only ones I can think of that remotely come close are 3S and GGXX. And they still have their flaws.

saying you can become unbeatable with the weakest is like saying that you could beat someone like Justin Wong or Soo Mighty in MvC2 with the servbot team.

Mewtwo's skills and such are just perfect for me. I love the teleportation, and the way he can hold a shadow ball charge. Plus, his hypnosis attack is excellent at short range too. His only real weakness is his lack of power in melee attacks =/

Well, I've never played a game where I couldn't beat someone with my favorite character and all the characters I like are always the weakest, people are always "You can't beat me with THAT!" and they eat their words.

I guess it's just me and my insanity but if I like a character, no matter how weak they are, I can take down those who are supposed to be the strongest.

I wasn't trying to say that you can't get good with low tier characters... all I was saying is that if you have two people of equal skill playing and one is using a top tier character and the other is using a low tier character the odds are the one using the top tier character will win. Just because of the superior abilities the top tier character has.

yeah,. i always get my friends with the motion sensor bomb, when i am playing with mario i put a sensor bomb on the egde of the stage and then i smash attack the off the stage and then they go BOOM! lol

another thing the president of nintendo talked about in the E3 video was a 'soon after the revolution launch' super smash bros game. so it's definately going to be on the revolution... and I'm assuming there will be even more characters and arenas in this one. maybe they'll have a netplay kind of thing with it too.

i just started playing SSBM again and i cant even beat all star mode on hard>_<.....man i stink

I have played it, and it is my favorite GameCube game. I do best with Link and Samus, but I am good with everyone else as well. My favorite stage is Hyrule Temple, followed by any constantly changing stage(such as the F-Zero stages, for example). I prefer using weapons, because they add more variability, but I will play without them. I usually play against three level 9 computer opponents(since I do not have many people to play with), but human opponents usually offer a better challenge. I have every character & stage, beaten every event, cleared Classic, Adventure, & All-Star Modes, and cleared the Target Test & Home-Run Contest. I have beaten 10-Man, 100-Man, 3-Minute, & 15-Minute Melee, plus I have beaten at least 15 men in Cruel Melee to earn the Mr. Resetti trophy! I have every trophy and earned every bonus. I have also fought & beaten Giga Bowser and Crazy Hand.
I think I have covered everything. If I remember something else, I will be sure to post it.
