in your opinion which suikoden is better...3 or 4? i saw on gamespot suikoden 3 got editors choice but suikoden 4 scored considerably lower. i just got suikoden 3 used at a pawn shop and have started playing as chris. so far it's is a very unique experience. for one i like how you can have ground units but also have mounted heroes as well. the graphics are very anime-ish which is nice though so far the music in the first forest grates on my nerves as do the evil faeries! lol.

Dunno. 4 is ok, but I think I liked 3 more. Although, 3 is hard (at least for me, lol.)

One thing I didn't like about 3 was that you were supposed to lose or retreat from so many of the war battles. There were few that you had to win =/

Though I love both, I would have to say 3, becuase the story was slightly better. And 3 of course had Yuber, who is my all time favorite bad guy. Though out of all the True Runes that I've seen, I like the Rune of Punishment the best, I love the way it screams whenever its used. That's something that Lekky and I both agree on, if nothing else. :D

I like Suikoden III better..actually it's my favorite one in the series. One of my favorite aspects of it is the main villan being an old friend. I also felt the 6th POV was awesome^_^ Yuber was a nice touch as a returning character since he's a favorite of mine as well. I liked the music in the game and I liked the whole trinity sight system. I liked Suikoden IV and the Rune of Punishment but Suikoden III is my favorite.

yeah i confess after playing the game hours to level up and just have fun i'm already enthralled with it. suikoden 3 is as good as suikoden 2 so alot of my worries were laid to rest. it's also nice to see the story unfold from the viewpoints of 3 different heroes. i think chris is hot...even in clunky armor! wish she had a hidden chainmail bikini costume though...heh heh.

I think that 3 is better as well... although 4 isn't a bad game. Most of the critics were a bit too harsh with their rating of S4 imo.

The only thing that I liked better in 4 was it's battle system. They went back to using one that's very similar to the one in 1 and 2.

My biggest complaints about 4 are...

-the story and game in general is waaay too short. (I beat it my first time through in about 25 hours)
-the random battle rate is way too high. (you get into a fight about once every 5 seconds)
-the slowness of the ship, especially with the battles added into this, makes it take over an hour sometimes to go from island to island.

Suikoden III is a lot better than IV. I wasn't too impressed with the fourth game in the series, and I feel I should have just rented the damn thing once, because I bet I only replay it once or twice again.

Why the heck didn't they voice the main character? I mean the kid could at least answer some questions, rather than you getting to pick a dialogue option and start a new cutscene.

Suikoden III was a great game that I absolutly love. The trinity site system is awsome, and the strategy battles were much better than those in Suikoden IV. I'd love to see a game released of just Suikoden III style strategy battles. The characters were likeable and diverse, and you actually got to see something awsome if you got all the Stars of Destiny.

-the slowness of the ship, especially with the battles added into this, makes it take over an hour sometimes to go from island to island.

Did you hold down R1?

hard to believe there is a suikoden game that can be beat in 25 hours...i mean come on there are friggin 108 stars of destiny to find in suikoden 3! suikoden 2 was huge!! i put about 80 hours into that game but had problems with the boss right before the last battle. i'd proably get suikoden 4 just because i know critics are jaded asses the only see the bad in anything. i still don't understand the bitch fest lord of the rings 3rd age generated. sure it was linear but it was still a decent turn based rpg.

First time thought the suikoden games take about 40 odd hous on average, second time through you can basically halve the time since you know where everything is and what is needed to pogress through certain stages. Suikoden 4 makes this easier by allowing a new game + which in effect carries over all you unequipped items.

So right now my Hero can 1 hit kill anything on the ocean besides leviathan at lvl 1 :P

The only thing that I liked better in 4 was it's battle system. They went back to using one that's very similar to the one in 1 and 2.I think the point of having so many characters is being able to use them; I definitely could've done with a six-character system, even if it was 3's.
-the random battle rate is way too high. (you get into a fight about once every 5 seconds)
-the slowness of the ship, especially with the battles added into this, makes it take over an hour sometimes to go from island to island. That just about killed it for me. I mean, I literally fell asleep five or six times on the world map.
I couldnt get into 4 much...:hmm Weren't you the one screaming "wow, this is one of the greatest games I've played?"
which in effect carries over all you unequipped items. Which didn't really make much sense to me: "We're giving you all the crap you didn't want." I had sold just about all of it by the end of the game, anyway.

nah see if you set it up you get a nice addition of basically every high level rune and you can basically start with a complete set dependng on what you use. Not to mention curative items, rune pieces, treasure maps (i think) and accessories.

As in, cheated cheated. I lost twice, got bored and wanted to just get the damn thing over with, so I gave Jeane infinite level 4 spells. Four rounds sounds about right. :chuckle

It shouldn't be funny, which is naturally why it is.

my eternal punishment for never reading directions continues............I just pushed every button near the start of the game to check them; it works for your character too.

you must have not been leveled up very much if the tree beat you. It was pretty easy for my party.

you must have not been leveled up very much if the tree beat you. It was pretty easy for my party.I honestly didn't try very hard. That game was just... draining. By the time I got to the tree I just said "Fuck it," and tried to bullshit through. Didn't work, apparently.

My friend said he was only able to beat it with Ted, who's apparently more powerful than is prudent. Never got him, by the way. >.> Stupid time constraints...

Chicken Little

Ted is uber, they tweaked the soul eater so Teds basically a 1 man army

but wven with a party of he Hero, Mizuki, Ted and Kika the tree went down in 4 rounds, take out ted you prolly give it an extra 2-4 rounds (judgement give or take 1500-2500 damage per hit)

I didn't get him either... but I didn't have anywhere close to the 70 stars needed to get him.

I'm playing through it on game + now though. I'm working on my perfect game now.

Like I said, I honestly didn't care much; I only actually beat the game to test out the ARMax my friend gave me after his PS2 died.
I didn't get him either... but I didn't have anywhere close to the 70 stars needed to get him.Excepting Ted, Snowe, and the cats, I think I got everyone but Gau and Doughnut Island girl... though I'm still wondering who in their right mind would know where to find Doughnut Island girl without a walkthrough.

if you read the message in the bottle it says something about a circle shaped island, and if you notice on the map the small brown coffee stain like things are actually land masses its quite easy to find her since all you have to do is get the message bottle travel around and eventually land at the right spot. And if you were like me and went to every land mass then got viki, you really never had to sail until you wanted Snowe ^_^

Now Gau i wouldnt have gotten without a walkthrough.

no she's not in 3. You get Nash from Suikogaiden though who talks about his "missus" who I presume to be her since they spent some time together in the Suikogaiden games. Yep Yuber is in it:D
