Will the next pope be an Italian?
Many point to popular choices in Milan and Genoa.
Will he be from Latin America?
It would certainly make sense, as almost half of all Catholics are located there. One from there would be better inclined to focus on world poverty and the many problems in the 3rd world.
Or are we ready for one from Asia or africa?
There are many very good candidates, but a pope from these regions may not be readily accepted by most of the outside catholic community.

like an open casket type deal, I thought it was cool...
the cardinals get together now and vote, or whatnot...
hmm that's different then how it works in my church...

lol, and WAY different then the way we do it in my church (though we dont have anyone that is the head of all churches... just preachers of their own church, and stuff lol)
Yeah i don't think church positions should be selected by voting that would just make it a popularity or political contest...

Well, then how should they be selected? :hmm
Well i don't wanna say it because it would probly be according to how my religion does it..

Hey, it's your opinion and beliefs, just talking about it's not a problem. I'm having trouble understanding how else you could fairly choose a new head of religion other than voting.

the votes are said by who is better for the job, lets say I was up for a vote, they would look through everything I have done, and can do... and who I am, then vote yes or no (is pretty much how WE do it...) Im not too sure how they do it, but Im sure they will pick the right guy, as they have in the past it seems... if not Im sure they have a system that allows them to kick the pope out and re-pick lol
lol like impeachment? that makes it sound more political lol..o well don't mind me..i say what's on my mind to much..

put it this way, in our church there are two ways to be the pastor, which is the head of any given church... one is to make your own church, owning the building and such... in which there are no rules, and the people have no say in anything, they either come or they don’t come to church
or the church owns itself, and the members the church run it, and they have committees that vote in preachers, from the Baptist convention, and such…
If at any time they want a new preacher, for whatever reason, they vote (all the members in the church) and if the vote says to kick the preacher out of the church, they do it… and then go through the convention and committees to find a new preacher, for the pastor of that church
Im sure even the pope can be overturned, its not politics it’s a safety thing, to make sure that the church always has the power, not just one man…
Yeah i guess that makes sense....

It would be nice for the next Pope to be different - say, a female Pope or a non-white one. Well, whoever it is, let's just hope they do a good job :)

It'd never happen, at least not a female one. It's against church doctrine for there to be any sort of female clergy, much less the head of religion.
A non-white one might be possible... Like it was said earlier, Latin America could be a possible option for the next candidate to come from... but I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that it doesn't happen.

Bah, I was expecting that reply from someone :( Ah well, a non-white one would be a step in the right direction.
Yeah it's going to be interesting who the next pope is..

Here's a link to an article that explains the process of electing the new pope, as far as who they might elect, who knows, but he'll have some pretty damn big shoes to fill.

I have doubts about one from Africa.
The church may be ready - but many catholics really aren't.
One from Latin America would make a lot of sense though - specially in these times.

I just know that he wont be from the u.s. because there have been so many cases of pope who do stuff to little boys...and they aint good things.
Yeah i don't think it is likely that a pope will come from teh use..because...it's the roman catholic church..but i dunno why that would have to do with anything..

Well - it's not like there's too many US candidates - though this guy Mahoney is looking like a runner up.
But the action with the little boys would be something the vatican would have to keep in mind - since someone like Mahoney who sees this problem as a result not allowing women as priests would be more inclined to change fix it in this fashion if he were pope.

Supposedly, the next Pope is going to be corrupt and evil O_o That's what I heard anyway.
How would you know something like that?

The British can't be popes because they're Protestant. The next pope will possibly be from either Poland or Italy, or maybe Czechoslovakia. I'm guessing this cuz the cardinals (I think they're called that) that the previous pope appointed may point towards someone like the previous one.

According to Nostradamus the last pope will be black, and according to some codes in the bible the end of the world will take place next year, so, who knows.

Ah, I keep forgeting that this country is officially Protestant. I mean, everyone I know (apart from one) is only slightly religious. We're such a secular country.
Yesh yesh, I think the next Pope will probably be from Poland, Italy or a Latin-American. And certainly male. Ho hum.
