Jennifer Garner will direct ''Alias'' episode. Her May 11 installment will touch on all things Rambaldi and features the return of Amy Irving's Emily Sloane after a two-year absence by Gary Susman

Superspy Sydney Bristow can do just about anything, but what she really wants to do is direct. She'll get her chance during May ratings sweeps month, as Jennifer Garner goes behind the camera to make her directing debut on ''In Dreams,'' the May 11 episode of Alias. According to Zap2It.com, it'll be an episode filled with lots of new info on the Rambaldi mythology. Guest stars will include Joel Grey, who's appearing in several upcoming episodes as a mysterious impostor who passes himself off as Arvin Sloane (Ron Rifkin). Also appearing in the episode, after a two-year absence, is Amy Irving as Emily Sloane. The directing credit will allow Garner to beat boyfriend Ben Affleck into the director's chair (he's making his feature directing debut later this year with crime drama Gone, Baby, Gone), unless you count Affleck's student film, the charmingly titled I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meathook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney.

I've watched a few episodes, not much of a Garner fan. I heard rurmors back when she was doing Electra that she was interested in directing a sequel. =/
