View Full Version : Best System Ever?

Lancet Jades

What do you think is the best system ever?

I'm going with SNES. It has so many good games, of all varieties. Not to mention its incredible durability.

Nereid
01-20-2004, 11:38 AM
Me = agree with Teh Johnny Boi...SNES is the most durable system of all time, and it has a large number of great games (think 99% of GBA's games).

Zelphiel
01-20-2004, 02:03 PM
I'm goin with the good ol' SNES. that thing is indestructable, and it has a huge library of kickass games.

Atari.... The System That Started It All.

Zelphiel
01-20-2004, 03:54 PM
actually the Pong machine was before that.. and Colecovision was the king before atari released the 7600.

Eric
01-20-2004, 05:24 PM
Was The Pong Machine As Portable As The Atari 2600?

Hector
01-20-2004, 05:41 PM
SNES...so many addictin good games. u can relive those daze if u hav any old mario games for the GBA and a gameboy player

Quel Thalas
01-20-2004, 08:29 PM
im gonna say game cube, cause it is the newest in the nintendo line, but SNES is cool... ive had mine for 9 years... dont have many games for it though...

Eric
01-20-2004, 11:42 PM
SNES Was Gonna Be Put Up There For Me, But It Wasn't A Multiple Choice. So I'm Not Gonna Dis The SNES. And Yes.... Everyone Should Agree That SNES Is The BEST!

Chicken Little
01-21-2004, 07:53 AM
NES, plain and simple.

Silly Girl
01-22-2004, 03:40 PM
I'd say SNES, but for the fact that they've remade all the best RPGs to PSX, and because you can play all PSX games on PS2... I'm saying PS2.

Eric
01-22-2004, 05:54 PM
PSX Games Can Be Played On PS2? I Never Knew That.

Zelphiel
01-22-2004, 09:00 PM
yeah, but some games won't work or have trouble playing like my Grandia game.....

Eric
01-23-2004, 01:38 PM
Oh.... When Does PSX Come Out If It Hasn't Already?

Silly Girl
01-23-2004, 02:19 PM
Umm... it's been out, dude. PS1? PSOne? PSX. Were you thinking of something else?

Eric
01-23-2004, 05:44 PM
I Guess. When Did It Come Out?

Eric
01-23-2004, 05:54 PM
Why Can't You Just Say PS Instead Of PSX?

Lancet Jades
01-23-2004, 07:37 PM
i just say PS1 =/

Chicken Little
01-24-2004, 06:50 AM
Well psx is a commonly used abbreviation of playstation and is used by gaming magazines so I guess that is why :\ it is in common usage among gamers

aahhh not so young grasshopper.

The first playstation was originally to be entitled Playstation X hence PSX for short, though this name did sound attractive at first they scrapped the X naming it the Playstation yet reports were out that it was still named the PSX hence ppl still remmebering it today. The PS0ne is a slighty smaller version round edged console made for portable use, slightly lighter in colour. Also there were 4 version of the Playstation developed, the normal grey box, a black box, a brown box and a white box. The Grey had the usual outputs RF, Stereo, power, parallel. The WHite added in a vcd port, the black enabled dummy copies of games to be played (eg unfinished copies) and the brown was simply for the programmers.

And yes the PS2 was always designed to be backwards compatable since at the time they didnt feel the time was right to produce a console that wasnt, instead the gamecube did that shifting from carterage to minidisc, whereas the PS2 only shifted from CD to DVD. Also this is conclusive with reports as soon as the PS2 was announced that the PS3 was already in planning.

the Tooth Ninja has spoken :D

I've never played Atari, but my friend has one. And he wants us all to go to his house after prom, so maybe I'll become a Pong master by the end of this school year ^_^

Lancet Jades

I think you've got those mixed up. I thought it was the black one that let you program..... I remember reading about it a long time ago in gamepro. and the original market PSX played all games, domestic and import.

Eric

They Had Black PSX's!?! Aww Man.

Silly Girl
01-27-2004, 07:28 AM
The PS2s are black.
And, although I don't have Pong *cry* I can enjoy myself daily with the slightly more complicated Tetris. Gotta love it. Oh, and if all ym other games get boring I can bust out the original NES and play River City Ransom ^_^ That is THE god of all games where you walk left and right and kill people!!! ^_^

Chicken Little
01-28-2004, 03:43 AM
i always wanted one with the vcd attachment, the white one just cuz it could then play vcd movies on it.

PSX. A lot of variety of RPGs.

Lancet Jades
03-02-2004, 04:46 PM
Yeah, PS1 and SNES are the best for RPGs.

Zelphiel
03-02-2004, 07:13 PM
the Saturn was too... but that was back when the Japanese were really, really, really stingy with games.. so we only got a fraction of what was released.

it used to be easy...back in the day the only two good systems around were the nintendo entertainment system and saga. i'd say of the x box, game cube, and ps2 it's hard to decide. all have advantages and disadvantages. for example the ps2 it great because its backwards compatible. that means your ps 1 games don't have to go to waste. the x-box has had some great games exclusively on their system, which kinda blows for ps2 owners like myself. why can't we have ninja gaiden and crimson skies as well damn it! then there's the cube. face it nintendo has the most endearing game characters ever. mario, link, and samus just kick ass. so long as nintendo keeps pumping out titles based on zelda, metroid, and mario (while also making them good games) they will be able to keep a fan following. still to me the game cube up until recently has been too kiddy oriented(that will change with the coming of re 4) and the x-box is too damn expensive(even with their reduced price) and the controllers are akward. in the end i gotta go with my good ol ps2. it's not the prettiest graphic wise nor is it the fastest...yet overall it has great games, easy to use controllers, and it is actually affordable.

Zelphiel

I agree there. Unless you wanted an obsolete console you had to choose between NES and Genesis... (or master system... depending on how far back you're going. The Genesis was released about a year and a half before the SNES.).

I don't really care for FPS's anyway, I like what they done with old-school games. Back when they didn't care for graphics and only cared about gameplay... I think nowadays Nintendo focuses on graphics while keeping that cool old-school touch. What I love about it.

The Snes is a great system all around. Amazing for its time and has come out with some of the best games to date. Along with some amazing Rpg's. Final Fantasy 6/3 for one, is still thought of highly, and to me is the best Final Fantasy of all time. You can't go wrong with the Super Nintendo.

i dunno, i thought the N64 would have more votes also....if i had the chance to own one i'd probably vote for it too.

Lancet Jades
10-08-2005, 05:54 PM
The reason the N64 wasn't my fav is because it simply lacked RPGs, which is my favorite genre. Had it a good supply of RPGs, like the SNES, PS1, or PS2, it might've had a chance, though if it DID have a lot of RPGs, it would probly be at the cost of some PS1 RPGs (instead of making them for the PS1, some companies would've probly made them for the N64).

The PS2 is so high because of its large variety of games. Pretty much any genre is present in good numbers on the PS2, and although other systems might have a better selection of 1 or 2 genres, the PS2 supported them all more or less equally (as did the SNES).

MiDQuinones

-Genesis, which got me into gaming.

-Game Boy (the gray bick one), which got me through rough times

-Nintendo 64, which made my christmas the best ever.

I love and play my Wii, 360, and DS to death, but the above three molded made me the gamer I am today.
