Magic(k) vs. Prayer.

In this argument Magic is "commanding something to happen" and Prayer is "begging for it"... which is essentially what they are anyway.

I like the idea of Magic, but I don't practice either one.

I'm a magic freak. >_< So so...well uh i don't practice it, knowing it's a waste of my time. I mean i'm certain that It can't happen if I were the one doing it. But I love watching movies that involves magic. >> like Harry Potter. LOL

When I was like 15 or 16 I was really into the whole magic thing. That sort of panned out as I got older. The books are interesting to read though. I don't think I ever really prayed...so neither.

i have practiced magic and saw nothing happen...but i have seen some things happen with it...
same with prayer.

Meh, I wouldn't rely on praying. You can't rely, praying, on something you don't know if it exist or not. All you can do is rely on yourself or those who supports you.

Well, i pray a lot (well, not a lot, but still). And, i have to say, preayer has helped me with a lot of things. Even though its begging for help from a deity that might not exist, too many things have happened because of it for me to rule it out as mere coincidence...

In the games Praying is also considered Magic. But it's considered good magic, holy magic. And Summoning is usually considered dark magic.

well steretypically prayer is good and magic is evil...well i've known prayer to be bad..one time i was eating with a baptist family...sam, a guy i knew prayed for the "destruction" of another town just because it had more liberal views of sex and religion. i'm sorry but praying for the destruction of anything or anyone is "bad." as for magic i know from personal experience that it is a neutral force it can be used for good or evil, it just depends on the heart of the person wielding it.

just because someone prayed for destruction doesnt mean player is bad...if it happend maybe...but im sure it didnt..they prayer might have been bad. thre play'er might be bad...but player itself isnt bad..
some with magic, some can say it is bad...but lots of people think that there are good and bad types of magic, its all up[ to what you think i guess...but IMO if i play for somthing "bad" that doesnt make payer itself bad

Yeah, i agree. Plus, if the prayer was bad, do you really think God would answer it? Thats one gopod thing about "Begging" rather than "commanding" If the prayer wishes for bad things, the deity has no reason to do it.

to clear things up..i don't think all prayers are bad..just a prayer that is selfish or destructive. fortunatelly most ppl tend to pray for healing,guidance,and hope..

well lancet..i know the power of belief is strong i have seen instances where when enough ppl pray for something or they wish for it...it happens. still i think you are right that if just an individual prays for something negative nothing will happen. there tends to be more power in a goal when ppl pray in concert..a.k.a large groups. still it kinda scared me seeing a self proclaimed christain praying for the destruction of a town..if you're going to pray do so for a loved one or something beneficial..

Hahaha, well personally, I think magic is well suited for me. With that said, I think prayer is something you do to try and be more confident. It makes you believe that it'll happen, and sometimes it will. Doesn't mean that prayers ALWAYS come true, it's just your confidence that leads you to your destination.

I agree with you about prayer, but even if it makes you more confident, that doesnt mean that its your confidence alone that helped you persevere. Divine help could've also played a part

I say fuck em' both, just operate on intuition and skill. Prayer, magick... it's all somewhat nonsense. Prayer moreso than magick, though. Prayer involves the belief in a big, invisible man in the sky. Magick involves the belief in nature and natural energies, something more tangible than any god...

Really, if I had to pick, I'd say magick.

I really don't think I use either. I have only used it when I command and begged to win the lottery...which I wasn't too serious about, even tho i'd love to win millions of dollars. Magic is better tho because I don't wanna sound like a begger.
