If I knew what the heck a PAL is, i look around for you, but I wouldn't even know where to start.

PAL is the broadcast frequency used in diff nations, its like how australia uses 240volts and canada uses like 160 volts. The same thing wouldnt work in the same place.

Okay, consider me a dumbass, which isn't a hard thing to do, and tell me what does it do? =/

Chicken Little

it just enables a better frame rate and colour distribution on the specific tvs and such used in such nations.

For instance mytv has Auto, Pal, NTSC1, NTSC2 colour. Auto and PAL have rich deep colour, while the NTSC option has a less emphatic colour and sound distribution.

I hate having to use PAL. We get HUGE black borders round the screens of our games. DMC was the worst. Also, lots of games aren't even released on PAL (VALKRIE PROFILE!!!) and the waitng time is appalling. Example -

Shadow Hearts Covenent came out on NTSC on Sept I believe. On PAL it's being released on Apr 1st. That's 6 months. That's half a year. That's disgusting.

Oh, I'm not saying you won't enjoy it; people seem to have a knack for enjoying shitty games. I'm just saying that artistically, the game was a piece of shit.

Oh, I'm not saying you won't enjoy it; people seem to have a knack for enjoying ****ty games. I'm just saying that artistically, the game was a piece of ****.

Try being a little less hostile. In my view, I do not enjoy shitty games - obviously, I play games because I like them. Whether it was a shitty game is a matter of opinion. Of course I cannot say as I haven't played it yet (:explode) and the artwork I have seen looks good so far, but I suppose I shall have to wait :(

In my view, I do not enjoy shitty gamesEveryone does. I enjoyed Chrono Cross, and partially enjoyed Final Fantasy 8. Both were shitty games. There's a difference between liking a game and thinking a game is good, but most people won't step back far enough to see it.

There's a difference between liking a game and thinking a game is good,

Who is the authority on knowing whether a game is good or not? Personally, I like a game because it is good. I think a game is good because I like it, as I only really play RPGs and I've played a lot of them. It's a very subjective experience.

about 1/3rd of games are lost in transition from jap - na - eu, na get about 4/5 of games and most of the gamers ive met from there are the biggest pack of whiners because they have to fork out all this apparant money for the games they dont get. Its astounding that i wholeheartedly believe if they moved to a pal country their head would spontaneously combust at the lack of available games and pricing, and if they moved to australia god help them.

It isnt without its perks tho, as with some games, FFX an example the pal countries version had extras and then jap released an international version for themeselves and na, and everyone who already bought it and liked it screamed bloody murder. And i chuckled real good until konami didnt ship suikoden 3..then i weep like a baby without a bottle.

Anywho, back to suikoden 4, i didnt check if it was in store today and theres about a 1% chance i'll be buggered walking down to check it tomorrow..err today...in the afternoon, which by the time i wake up will have dwindled to 0.0000000000000000000000000000 00001% by my amazing self motivational skills!

Who is the authority on knowing whether a game is good or not?I am, silly.

Jokes aside, SH2 is quite literally the worst game I've played in the past two years. What you fail to understand is that says nothing of its enjoyability. I didn't hate the game (much), I just thought it was a piece of shit.

You judge a game on its artistic quality, just as you judge a piece of art, or an anime, or a book. It's not usually difficult to judge such things so long as you try to. Problem being, few ever try. I've liked books that I've thought were horribly written, I've liked anime that I thought was thrown-together haphazardly. That doesn't change the fact that they were complete shit. Big difference between enjoyment and appreciation.

Personally, I like a game because it is good. I think a game is good because I like itGood to know you're different from tens of millions of other gamers.
as I only really play RPGs and I've played a lot of them. As have I. Point?

you see games in a different light, as a commodity easily accessable, thus the view is tainted by 'oh well if its bad i waste $40' others however 'if its crap i wasted $100, i better make sure it isnt crap' see games as not a commodity but an investiment since we have to fork out more for less. That means then, in generalisation, you take it for granted and we dont, thus the higher level of understanding about concepts and what makes a good game is clearly different and imo better then yours.

Same subject matter, at least, but I don't see what it has to do with anything you quoted.

$40 ($50, actually) is a fuckload of money for jobless me. I don't buy "if it's crap" games until I can get them for $9 used several years later.

You judge a game on its artistic quality...

Unprovoked when you judged that someone failed to understand, then immediately jump upon not understanding yourself. How exactly can you say ' the games crap it blows' and then claim you said nothing of its enjoyability? That statement...was fucking noobish and you know it. And as i said, she doesnt fail to understand just as you do fail to understand what i wrote and its correlations. And quite frankly im appalled that youve messed up my thread which had nothing to do with you and your holier then thou attitude you strike around the forums.

try being unemployed in a country with less of an economy then the US, your monetary woes are laughable at best as your new game prices are used game prices here. So for once shut up and listen, and get the hell out of my thread im tired of you.

Unprovoked when you judged that someone failed to understandCertainly. Everybody fails to understand, because it's a foreign concept. Why would somebody like a game that they didn't think was good? At first glance, it doesn't make sense to people... such as you, and her. You assume that you like a game because it is good, when you usually only like it because you enjoy it. Why does that not make sense to people? Because they're too stuck on words and less on feelings. The wording seems too similar to mean anything, so they dismiss it offhand. I don't fault them for it, as it's simply human nature... I've no doubt I'd do the same thing myself under the circumstances. I'm only telling you what I've learned firsthand, and I spend a lot of time thinking on such things.

then immediately jump upon not understanding yourself. How exactly can you say ' the games crap it blows' and then claim you said nothing of its enjoyability?Quite simple. I'm saying the game was a piece of shit. I don't think I'm wrong there. That does not mean that somebody cannot enjoy it, so I'm not going to tell anybody not to buy it. As I've said before, there is a difference between enjoyment and appreciation.

And quite frankly im appalled that youve messed up my thread which had nothing to do with you and your holier then thou attitude you strike around the forums. I won't deny being overzealous (how could I?), but that still doesn't make me wrong.
try being unemployed in a country with less of an economy then the US, your monetary woes are laughable at best as your new game prices are used game prices here.I do know how the system works, and I'm well aware I'm still probably better off than you, but I'm not some dumb little rich kid who gets whatever he wants. I have to work and plan for my games, so I'm going to think long and hard about which games I'm going to get. You say that having higher game prices makes you a better judge of games, which makes logical sense. But we do not live in a world run by logic, and it's important to remember that. It's an overgeneralization that ignores the human factor, and I find it disgusting.

So for once shut up and listen, and get the hell out of my thread im tired of youNo.
