Ok, here you pick a band that you like really well, and you have heard all their material, and list the names of all their CDs. Then pick the best CD and tell why it is the best, likewise you must pick the CD that you like the least and tell why you like it the least. Finally you say which album you recomend for someone who's never heard that particular band but would like to hear some rockin tunes by em.

But you MUST have listened to ALL the CDs before, I'd like to see this be a helpful thread if anyone wants to experiment with a new band.

NIRVANA

bleach
nevermind
incesticide
in utero
uplugged in new york
from the muddy banks of wishkah
NIRVANA (greatest hits)

best

incesticide:because the songs on it are pure gold with the exception of new wave polly it is unlike any cd i have ever listioned to im serious this cd is very uniqe

worst

from the muddy banks of wishkah:because there is not one new song on it and alot of the songs on it are not recorded very well

recommended for beginers

i would recomend bleach for people who like heavy stuff and nevermind for anyone else because nevermind has the most famous songs and is the cd that got me into nirvana

DREAM THEATER

When Dream and Day Unite
Images and Words
Live at The Marquee
Awake
A Change of Seasons
Falling Into Infinity
Once In A Livetime
Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory
Metropolis, 2000: Live Scenes From New York
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Train of Thought
Live At Budokan

Best:
Images And Words- Ok, this is like a masterpiece in music. From the acoustic intro to Pull Me Under to the synth outro to Learning To Live, this album keeps you wondering "how the hell did they do that?" This song has the epic song Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle And The Sleeper, which spawned an entire album from its Romeo and Juliet-esque story line.

Worst:
Awake- Okay, true DT fans will crucify me for saying this, but this is the most un-inspired DT album of all time. It's almost as if it is inadvertantly a concept album due to the reuse of riffs and piano pieces in multiple songs... which makes me want to put the songs together in some sort of story... and they just don't fit together. Lyrically this is not DT's best effort, the tone is darker than most of their other albums but the lyrics seem cliched imo. I dunno, but i'm only a fan of a few songs on this album.

Recommended:
Images And Words
Reasons:
So many memorable songs, not too heavy not too soft. Its an awesome prog-metal album that you can listen to hundreds of times and it just never gets old.

Lacuna Coil

Albums-
Lacuna Coil (1998)
In A Reverie (1999)
Halflife (2000)
Unleashed Memories (2001)
Comalies (2002)
I'm not counting Heaven's A Lie (2002) or Swamped (2004), because they're simply discs with two tracks that are found on other albums.

Their Best-
In A Reverie. In what was a very close decision, I finally choose In A Reverie as their best work, over Comalies. In A Reverie included amazing tracks such as Falling Again, My Wings, and To Myself I Turned. I honestly cannot find anything wrong with this album, and would recommend it to anyone that wants some semi-heavy music.

Their Worst-
Halflife. This CD doesn't contain very many songs, and the ones included (with the exception of Stars and Halflife) aren't anything to write home about when compared to other LC tracks. This problem somewhat plagues Unleashed Memories, but that has more tracks and a few more noteworthy songs on it.

Recommended-
Comalies. This one is the easiest one to find in North America, as it was their American debut CD. Comalies contains enough noteworthy tracks for a newbie to the band to get into and grow to love, so they can start exploring some of their older work.

Oh my f*cking god. lol.....

All right... um i'll say TOOL
Albums:
Undertow
Opiate
Aenima
Lateralus

Best: Lateralus
Their last cd, and i think their best... i really like it and tool is my favorite band because of it. I got started on Tool from Aenima, but the cd that really just..... hit it for me was Lateralus. Full of prog-metal excellence and other fun stuff....

Worst: Opiate
The only reason its their worst is because of the fact that its an LP and so has like 4 songs on it. and thats it.

Hmm... I've heard good things about Tool before. I'll have to give em a try someday... I'm always up for an awesome Prog-Metal album.
