My favorite author is Richard Laymon, unfortunately he is no long with us.

I've only read one book by him ("Night Show") and it was really good, so I'm hoping I get the chance to check out more of his books soon.

A lot of good authors have been mentioned, but my favorite author is Graham Masterton. He writes all kinds of books, but specializes in horror novels. Great stuff. If you like horror novels, check him out.

Aside from Graham Masterton... I also really enjoy H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Shakespeare, Homer, Dean Koontz, Plato, Aristotle, Isocrates, Sophocles, Virgil, Confucius (mainly for his Analects), Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, Terry Pratchett, J.K. Rowling, Gary Paulsen, Jordan Cray, J.R.R. Tolkien, Frank Baum, Alexandre Dumas, Charles Dickens, C.S. Lewis, Ray Bradbury, and so on.

Robert Cormier. His books are way too short though, they end too soon. Great suspense writer.

Robert Cormier. His books are way too short though, they end too soon. Great suspense writer.

That name sounded familiar, so I checked out his bibliography and yeah, I've read some of his stuff before - The Chocolate War books. Those were pretty good. I don't think I've read anything else by him before though.
