Sunday, March 14, 2004

From staff reports

Hampden Twp. police say a West Shore man stole a pallet of Coors Extra Gold beer from Arnold Logistics.

Keith L. Davis Jr., 20, of Linda Drive, Silver Spring Twp., was arraigned on Thursday on charges of theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy in the Feb. 15 incident.

Davis is free on his own recognizance to await a preliminary hearing before District Justice Thomas A. Placey.
Arrest documents show Davis was working at Arnold Logistics, 481 Freight St.

Police said the pallet of beer, which weighed 2,200 pounds, was loaded into the bed of a red pickup truck around 8 p.m., during break time for the night shift.

As the truck sped away from the warehouse, some of the beer fell from the truck, police said.

Court records show Davis was the only employee unaccounted for during the break, and had been overheard on the telephone giving someone directions to the warehouse.

Employees told police they saw Davis use a forklift to move the pallet from the warehouse to near a ground-level roll-up door.

The pallet of beer, which had been damaged when it was unloaded on Feb. 13, was valued at $1,400, police said.

No other arrests have been made in the case.
