It would kick so much ass if someone would make a 2D platformer with modern gaming technology...

But, in this world of flashy graphics, and poor storylines, i doubt we'll see many, if any, of them ever again...

I think Megaman X6 was the last modern 2D platformer.... unless there was one I didn't know about.

i think they made a recent contra game for the ps2 vyers and it was 2d..

yeah... I rented it and it wasn't very good. the only contra trademark was the game's difficulty.

yeah mmx6 was the last i've seen of 2d, but i've heard of a group somewhere on the net who seek to put the nes back on the shelves.
PS: in the meantime making platfoms on gamemaker will have to do.

Ninja Gaiden! WHOO, that was like my favorite platform game ever...actually the remake is quite good..it ain't 2D..but it keeps true to Ninja Gaiden (and adds to it), so I'm not too disappointed.

Supposedly the Berserk video game, though never released in America, is somewhat like a 2D sidescrolling game, except with amazing graphics. Such a shame you need to have seen the Anime first...

I've actually never played the game, but that's what my friend tells me.

I googled it... it looks similar to the ps2 castlevanias in it's style. It's hard to tell just how side scrolling it is. The graphics are about the same as the ps2 castlevania games as well.

it does look pretty cool though. maybe if the anime keeps getting popularity here it'll get a re-release.
