What genre do you guys think Kingdom Hearts applies the most to?

And non of the inbetween mumbo jumbo either.

I say that it is most like a platformer.

Action/Adventure Platformer with some RPG things in it..

theres no mumbo jumbo about it, some games just cross genres and this is one that does

if i had to pick just one which i do because your picky.. im going with action/adventure

Yes a realize the game crosses over multiple genre's of game, but I was actually hoping to get some insight on what it was MOST fitting to be under. Yes I too would say Action RPG, but what really is an 'Action RPG'

I think that 'sub genre' was created so RPG fans could steal all Action/Adventure games that had storylines involved in them. An RPG really ought to be some kind of turn based battle system, or its not really role playing, right?

I've seen the thread, excuse me for trying to make a decent debate as to which genre this game held the most traits of I was hoping if it went over well we could have more of these...

I agree, if KHs has enough RPG to be an Action RPG then Zelda is as well.

Also mind difing 'RPG' elements a bit for me, because Im clearly misunderstanding.

I don't think that Zelda was made to be an RPG...but I do know that Kingdom Hearts, since it's birth, it was an RPG, no doubt about it.

The intention of it shouldn't be what matters...

What the game was intended to be shoudln't matter, the fact is it came out as an action platformer made by an RPG company.

There are too many RPG elements in KH. I mean... What Action-Adventure game has a true elemental system, or a stats and leveling up system like KH?

KH can't be called an action-adventure. Zelda can be called that, but not KH.

Trust me, this blends other problems that you must not know. Just accept me that way. It's my way.

And I don't know why you keep insisting that Kingdom Hearts is an action platformer. You just stick with Zelda, and let us RPG fans do the rest. Zelda IS close (yes, close) to be called an RPG, in the Dungeon Crawler category, but still, it needs many things to be considered an RPG.

What I recommend to you, Deity bud, is that you grab a copy of Kingdom Hearts, clear it 2, 3 times, then you'll see what we're talking about.

I however classify games by their battle system, you can talk about all the extra add ons you want, but it doesnt change the core of the game it remains to be action and platforming (jumpings around and such) I just can't think of an RPG as anything that is not somewhat turned restricted.

I see where you're coming from on weapon developments and how your character levels up, but then some of The Lord of the Rings games should also be RPGs. They have storyline and you build up. Drakengard should be an RPG, you level up weapons in a pretty good storyline. As a matter of fact there shouldn't be very many 'action' games out there.

But the classification "action RPG" is for games that are RPGs despite having action elements, which is what I classify KH as.

RPG elements is such an ambiguous term, it can be twistde to turn anything into a half RPG.
