How do you feel about cheating in video games, whether it be a built-in code, or some modifier (game shark, etc)? Do you think its ok, or do you think it should never be done?

Personally, i think cheating is ok, but only if you beat the game. After beating it, if you want to go through it again, then its ok to cheat, but only then. Even then, i rarely use codes other than Infinite money and such. I dont really ever use invincibility codes and other ones like them.

i dislike it only because its always gonna be used for the wrong purposes. Theres always gonna be one person who cant finish the game and resort to: Uber up party 8001FA2 00FF and then cheat their way through.

So in this case id say its better not to have them at all then have them for those who finished the game.

I've used beneficial and handicap type codes after I've beaten a game.. to try to breathe some life back into my interest of it.

I only like cheating after beating a game or for more fun in some games. Cheating usually makes the agme more boring, because its too easy.

not when you use codes like "no GP" in Final Fantasy 4. then it's much harder.

It depends on the type of game. Illusions of Gaia is very linear so I just use the invincibility increase strength blah blah blah because I just love the story line. But games where the challenge makes it interesting it's just wrong to cheat. The only time I cheat in those games is if I was playing Freelancer. It gives me a limit like I can't get a better ship than what I have, but I have alot of money. So I'd like to go just ditch the ship I have and get a better one. It's so not fair. It's a stupid limit.

I rebel against sucky game limits. Cheating is fun. It's faster and considering I don't have time to wait and build up levels I have no problem with using it. It's just like looking for the powerful weapon that will make you one bad mother ****a. Instead it's a code form instead of weapon form.

Yeah, i agree w/ fairy. Although the most commonly used code for me is some form of Infinite Money. Some RPGs (coughbreathoffirecough) take way too long to build up the gold required to buy a lot of things, so i use infinite money codes for those games. In fact, i just use it once, hen turn it off, as they usually raise your money to the maximum and thats more than enough.

I have to beat the game and then replay the game and try to find screts and stuff


Once I feel like there is nothing more I can do then I cheat

In The Granstream Saga, the most powerful sword is in the very begining. Of course it makes the game alot easier when you replay it, it allows you to replay the game with little trouble. One hit = dead on most mosters. bosses tend to be a pain in the ass still.

Linear rental games were okay to cheat because it cost money when you rent it and you have little time to beat it. By linear I mean games where your goal is to get to the end. As far as renting games now goes, I love memory cards. You would not believe how many times I refused to give up a supernintendo game till I beat it if I couldn't cheat.

I usually cheat only after the game's done. Even if it makes it harder ^_^ (which I never do). Except in Suikoden II, the door at the Muse/Matilda border can be pushed and therefore you can get Futch and Humphrey early and level up your chars from levels 10-15 to 30-40. *shrugs* It only makes the game easier until you get to that point in the game. And since the game is soooo long, I'm waaaaaaaaay past that spot and not nearly done yet! XD

Suikdoen II cheating in that game would ruin the fun and besides its no a hard game just getting all the charaters are hard to get. I still cant find one damn character

but the only game i have cheated in thus far has been in nwn for the pure reason to see what spells and stuff i can get later on and what would suit me later on. Though its not really cheating its more modding.

It isnt that easy, leungd. Suikoden 2 still costs $40-50 in stores, if you're lucky enough to find a copy. If not, then you'll have to get it off of eBay, which usually costs $80-100.

meh... i onyl cheat when i have beaten the game... or if there is no way for me to win, i use supplement codes, like, ammo, armor, and the such... i dont use invincibility codes... those make the game boring

Cheating can make a game boring for me too. I don't think I've ever used codes...except on games that I've played through like a million times.

heh, i use cheats on some games to make things easier...other games...just cause i have beaten them...and games that dnot have them...well... those i die on, quickly, and often

Yeah, but i often cheat after beating it once. Although, that usually means (on RPGs) that i use an infinite money code, and MAYBE a LV99 code.

its ok but only if you need to i dont do it unless i need to but i dont like to do it anymore i used to do nothing but cheat when i was real young but i stopped cheating a while ago i still do it ocasionaly but not often
