What are your views on having female preachers?

I ask this because my mom is currently going to college to become a full time preacher. She has been reluctent in doing this do to the criticism that she knows that is sure to follow her, even within our own church. However, she feels completely called by God in this mannor. I find nothing wrong with female preachers there is nothing firmly written in the Bible either way, and if its okay for them to minister to our youth as youth leaders and overseas as missionaries why can't they do it to a hole church?

my mom AND dad are both preachers... my mom hasnt preached yet but soon will

for a long time she didnt want to be one, but knew she was called

baptists dont like the idea, but other then them most churches dont care

ALOT of church dont like any preacher that has gone to school for it, they want unsmart people so that they can pay them little money and such lol

tell her i said good luck, and that it will be a hard road, but in Gods time all will work out

and to know that being a preacher is not a easy job, and being a preachers son is REALLY not easy.

anyway good luck!..need anything im always here

I have no problem with it. God created all humans equal, so I see no reason why not.

there are places in the bible that say that most anything is a mans job, just like preaching... but keep in mind that at that time, and where they were at.. women didnt even show there faces..

times have changed. IMO we need all the preachers we can get anyway lol

I don't see how gender is an issue at all, it is what they are saying that makes them a good or bad preacher, not the gender.

PS. Tell your Mom that the athiest says "Congrats and keep at it, the world need more good ppl." :D

No I don't see anyting wrong with it at all. My grandmother has been a figurehead at her church for over 40 years..she taught adult bible classes and the childrens bible classes. Though she isn't a preacher many people come from the church come out to our house to ask her advice..and while I'm not the most religious person in the world I'm very proud of her:D A former preacher at her church recently wrote a book and thanked her for her help in the book. I wish your mom the best of luck.

I dont have a problem with having a female minister....they are just as capable, (if not smarter on "some things") that what men are... :oD

Thanks for your opinions everyone, and sadly laggy our baptist beliefs seem to be catching us in this regard, not as bad as you might think though. I've heard southern baptists are much more strict on the issue.

no problem here...gender shouldn't matter when it comes to being a spiritual guide...all that matters is how true one is to their faith and how well they convey the message.

don't know conker some ppl just think its a big issue. me i think so long as you can get through to ppl and touch their lives in a positive way it shouldn't matter what gender you are.
