seriously i was brought up on the huge friken robots and as much as i like the other stuff (specially read or die was very good) im impartial to the robots.

For me, it's not necessarily the type, but the anime itself. I like fantasy style, good ole hack n slash but I like Escaflowne and Dragonball Z, and not so much Ruroni Kenshin and Knights of the Zodiac. I also like romantic comedies like Fruits Basket, and I know Taryn's gonna get me hooked on the Shonen-ai: Gravitation. When it comes to mech's... I really hate Mech shows. The only ones I ever enjoyed were Gundam Wing and Escaflowne.

I still call Escaflowne fantasy, because its set in a world with dragons and magic and swordplay and stuff. I know there are Mechas but i still call it fantasy. And i vote fantasy :)

its both really since most anime can be classed as fantasy also, there arent many that take a realistic world standpoint unless its like a deep thoughtful thing.

What the? I thought we were talking about genres!!!!! Yu-gi-oh is sux in my opinion. Along w/ those other stupid animes... I like Genres that have a made up timeline, but when it comes down to it I guess I like the past setting...
