Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne branded with M-rating

"RPGs have finally grown up," says Atlus rep.
Atlus USA confirmed today what many had expected since the announcement of a US release of the role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne--a dark game with Satanic themes that will carry an ESRB rating of "M" for Mature, one of only a very few role-playing games to ever do so.

"RPGs have finally grown up with the release of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne," said Gail Salamanca of Atlus in a press release issued today. "We’ve taken great care to keep the localization as true to the creators’ original vision with its dark and often controversial themes, as doing anything else would be a disservice to the gaming public."

"SMT: Nocturne is definitely not for people with delicate sensibilities," said Salamanca.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne will ship this fall for the PlayStation 2. At $49.99, it will include a limited-edition soundtrack CD that contains 30 of the game's music tracks. Also shipping this fall will be Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, also for the PlayStation 2.

Its going to have a soundtrack with it??? *hugs Atlas* I'm glad they kept it as true to the original as possible. I've been seeing alot more advertisements for this game recently. I'm starting to get alot more interested.

Hmm... I didn't notice this thread or else I wouldn't have made the other thread about this game.

The 'M' rating makes it more appealing to me. I'm sick and tired of candy-ass games and I want more RPGs with blood, gore, sex, violence, and and fowl language.

yeah, i hate when they water a good game down. so the game proably has gore n sex in it...who cares, so long as the story is good keep it as it is please! lol. i'm excited about this release too but blew my money on shadowhearts covenant. actually i shouldn't say blew my money because its still a great game. the price is a bit steep for nocturne but all rpgs cost about the same when they're first released. i just hope there are enough copies to meet demand.
