[Lancet Jades]

What parties do you use on RPGs? Post your parties, discuss various party makeups, etc here.

Mine:

FF6: Locke, Shadow, Setzer, Sabin (covers high-damage strikes, and of course includes the must-have Locke and Setzer :D)
FF7: Cloud, Barret, Cid (all characters have multi-hit limit breaks, and good stats)
FF8: Squall, Irvine, Quistis (squall/irvine for high-damage multi-hit limit breaks, and Quistis for Mighty guard/white wind/shockwave pulsar)
FF9: Zidane, Steiner, Eiko, Amarant (Zidane cuz you have to have him, Steiner cuz he's cool, plus Shock is wrong, Eiko cuz she's a better white mage than Garnet, and Amarant because he kicks much ass with No Mercy, and can be useful w/ aura and Chakra)
FF10: Tidus, Rikku, Wakka (Tidus and wakka have multi-hit overdrives, and Rikku can perform any number of functions with Mix)
FF10-2: All 3 as a Mascot (cuz its just plain evil, bwahahahahahaha)

Breath of Fire 3: Ryu, Rei, Nina (Ryu for dragon stuff, Rei for physical strikes and much speed, and Nina for magical strikes)
Breath of Fire 4: Ryu, Scias, Ursula (Ryu for dragon, Scias for Shining Blade, and Ursula uses Shadowstrike. Both Scias and Ursula have multi-hit weapons, making them immensly powerful)
Tales of Destiny: Stahn, Rutee, Philia, Mary (Stahn for obvious reasons, Rutee for healing, Philia for her array of magic, and Mary for her raw physical power)
Tales of Destiny 2: Reid, Farah, Meredy, Chat (Reid for Omega Demon Chaos and Demon Spiral Hammer, Farah for her powerful physical combos, Meredy for her magic and summons, and Chat for Eternal Hammer)
Xenosaga: Shion, Jr. KOS-MOS (Shion for my LV36 rain blade :D, Jr. for his powerful techs, and Great Joe, and Kos-mos for her powerful moves)
Grandia Xtreme: Evann, Titto, Myam, Lutina (Evann you need to have [also Sky Dragon Slash], Titto for his 3-hit combo and stealing capabilities, Myam for her Shotgun Bow [+6 hits to combo!!!!!] and healing/support abilities, and Lutina for her powerful and quick attacks. The fact that this team forms one of the only 2 4-character combos was purely unintentional, but nice nonetheless)

Evann, Brandol, Carmyne, Ulk (Evann, Brandol and Carmyne can produce the 3-character combo Divine Dragon Slash--the most powerful attack in the game! Also, with Ulk, they can do the other 4-character combo)

Suikoden: McDohl, Flik, Viktor, Kirkis, Stallion, Gremio (do i even have to explain? lol, Kirkis has a Flowing rune, so he handles healing, Stallion is essential for the world map, plus he's not too bad w/ power, Gremio cuz i like him [platonically!...unlike taryn...], and the other 3 cuz you're eventually forced to have em.
Suikoden 2: Riou, Flik, Viktor, McDohl, Stallion, Mazus (Riou cuz you have to have him, Flik for powerful physical + lightning magic, Viktor for physical powerhouse [also Cross strike w/ Flik], McDohl for the Soul Eater, Stallion to use the Spark rune [he's my pacesetter, lol], and Mazus for powerful magic attacks)
Suikoden 3: Hugo, Geddoe, Chris, Sarai, Nei, Juan (the four true rune users for that reason, lol [w/ Hugo as flame champion], Nei for Jongleur and healing, and Juan for powerful physical attacks)

Star Ocean 2: Claude, Precis, Ashton, Rena (Claude for physical powerhouse, Precis cuz her killer moves can be very useful, plus her power is good [and she's hot!], Ashton for tri-Ace, and Rena for healing and support)
Dragon Warrior 7: Hero (as a Hero, lol), Melvin (as a Godhand), Gabo (as a Rain Hawk), and Maribel (as a Summoner). Good all-round team that uses all the max-level job classes. Balanced, powerful, and a force to be reckoned with.

Chrono Trigger: Crono, Ayla, Magus (Crono for physical power and Luminaire, Ayla for purely physical power, and Magus cuz he rocks...oh, and dark magic)
Chrono Cross: Serge, Glenn, Kid (Serge for power, Glenn for more power, and Kid for..uh..stealing?)
I also have Harle, Norris and Nikki as opposite-color reserves.

Golden Sun: Isaac (Paladin), Felix (Chaos Lord), Jenna (Ronin), Garet (War Adept).
Why? P.P.P. -- Pure Physical Power.

Valkyrie Profile:Lenneth, Arngrim, Shiho, and Jun. Lenneth and Arngrim are strong. Shiho is a good magician and Jun is fast.
Xenogears:Fei, Emeralda, either bart or citan
Xenosaga:KOS-MOS, Shion, Chaos(he wears little white shorts but hey he's a good character anyway)

I like Bart.. he's one of my fav Xenogears characters, but I don't use him much toward the end of gears. Citan is too damn strong with his sword to let him go to waste.

Lol, i tend to use magic early on, and sometimes even halfway through, but then it just becomes outdated IMO. I like how fighters dont need to expend MP to do big damage.

yeah... in the later parts of games I use magic when I get bored with hacking the enemies up... giant fiery balls of death are a good relief from swords sometimes... :party

True good damge takes too much MP

I like summon though nice to look at I tend to use them alot

Yeah, but the problem is you can only use it so many times before the caster runs out of MP >_<

heheh overkills are fun to watch I always just do that for fun like in FF7 I always Omnislash the Midgar Zloom (big snake thing) or like a chocobo just for fun

what types of characters (providing that you can choose) do you pick for strategy rpgs. The main part of my party is warrior types, but I like to have a few mages for some distance attacks.

I usually have brute force that can attack from a distance (Dragoons) a few archer or mages as well though

I use Archers(Snipers) in Fire Emblem, but I don't use many of them in other games.

I usually have a balanced party, like some warriors, some mages, some healers. I like Dragoons and warriors best, but magic can be useful and healers are a necessity.

my Blades of Avernum could rapezor anyones party here if they were alll brought down to equal HP's and stuff....

Lord Joachim had 1400 something Hp where the starting hp was 12, and he could kill any creature in the game with a max of 2 slashes. he also never missed. and could hit anything with a bow too.

And just think that the other 3 people in my party were just about the same, with a mage that could create clones of any creature in the game, and that could create an Ice Lances spell that damaged up to 11 foes at a time...... almost always killed em too.

Final Fantasy X - Tidus, Auron, Wakka (I use them all, but these are the main ones I use. Tidus and Auron are my powerhouses, and Wakka takes care of flyers. Wakka also has a weapon that can petrify, so he's handy often.)

Star Ocean 2 - Claude, Ashton, Bowman, Rena (Claude - default, Ashton - Just because he's cool, Bowman - Actually a very, very powerful character, Rena - healing and support)
Xenosaga Episode I - Shion, KOS-MOS, Jr. (I use chaos and Ziggy a lot as well, but these are the main ones I use, mainly for power. Plus, if I feel cheap, I just have Shion use Erde Kaiser. :D)
Xenogears - Fei, Bart, Citan (Power)
Chrono Trigger - Chrono, Magus, Frog (Best characters, in my opinion)
Chrono Cross - Serge, Glenn, Karsh (Pure power. I also use General Viper - more power, Starky - I love aliens!, and Skelly - haha)
Shadow Hearts - Yuri, Keith, Zhuzhen (Yuri is a given, Keith because I love vampires, and Zhuzhen was just kickass)
Shadow Hearts: Covenant - Yuri, Joachim (Only ones I cared about was Yuri and Joachim, the rest I just switch in and out)
Legend of Dragoon - Dart, Albert/Lavitz, [Heschel, Kongol - Switched in and out] (Power)

you got that right. xenogears aside Citan and Fenrir (I think that's his omnigear) are the strongest. Especially when he gets his sword.

Unfortunately, I STILL have yet to beat Xenogears, so I haven't even got the sword or Fenrir yet, but he's still pretty strong (aside from Rico, whom I don't really like). Damn other games taking up my time. :P

Rico seems strong when you get him but once you get Citan's sword he's the strongest. Outside of the gears anyway. Inside the gears Fei/Xenogears is the best... but that's one of the obvious things about xenogears I guess, lol.

also when you get Citan's sword and hear some of the last parts of the story you'll see why I think him and Jin are the same person.
