View Full Version : $houtboxxx will be changed soon

The $houtboxxx we have has seen us through innumerable moments of fun, laughter, drama, crisis, and, on more than one occasion, served as a place for Droog and Kimiko to discuss porn. We all know it, we all love it. But my friends... it must end.
No, not forever. There is a harder, better, faster, stronger shoutbox out there. It is apparently much like the one we know and love (and in Droog/Kimiko's case, made love to). It will take its place.
There is a reason! Our current $houtboxxx is outdated and antiquated; it is inefficient. It is a hulking SUV getting single-digit mileage in the world of the Prius. It is everything you hate, everyone you loathe, everywhen you aren't. And for this mortal crime, it shall DIE.
Rejoice, people of Evermore! The new $houtboxxx shall soon be upon us!

I approve of this change! It is for the good of the people! Its rotting corrupt bureaucracy will trouble the proletariat no longer. Not only shall the new one provide us with the opportunity to gaze upon the past without the System getting in the way, but it will allow us to renovate said history to remove certain undesirables from its annals, leaving only the clean, productive record that is a clean slate. This new infrastructue upgrade will also make it easier for corrections to be made, should they be deemed necessary. Long live Evermore!

So long as we can still freely and easily chat with one another, change to the shoutbox doesn't bother me in the least. Hopefully it won't have any restrictions or anything that the current shoutbox doesn't have

Will I be able to talk about porn in a swifter fashion? Because the world must know of my adventures through Kink.com.

I'm fine with any change to it, I barely use it anyway.

So, here's the situation.
How many people here care if we lose all existing shouts in the attempt to fix that shoutbox error we've been suffering? How tolerant we'd be of losing it all could affect how easy it is for me to fix, and thus how quickly it gets done.

I take it that shoutbox error is when it fails to load and spam line code errors? (says he who doesn't use the thing)

It's probably calling a code that has since been removed from the database due to it being outdated.
It's also a serious problem for me, because I cannot leave the soothing blue and black of EF on my screen and monitor the shoutbox for roaming Hollies without seeing a bunch of movement out of the corner of my eye, distracting me from whatever I'm doing.

That is exactly one of my problems.
I personally say go for it, Lades. Shout count number and past shouts don't really matter anyway, do they? I mean, since the shoutbox is used as a chatroom anyway, why does it matter how many times a person has shouted in the past?

How am I supposed to continue my reign as KING OF THE SHOUTBOX if my shout count gets reset?

Small price to pay for removing Gunny as Duke of the shoutbox.

My return to power will be bloody, but such is the path to glory.

Heh, I remember when I was closing in on highest number of shouts... then I vanished for a year. But honestly, I don't care about shout numbers, really, go fot it.

I am not high in the shout counts list anyway, so kill it.

Sounds like a good idea, sooner the errors go the better :)

Yes. You've bounced through many a time.

Installed new shoutbox, but it won't appear for normal members apparently. No settings I can find to make it appear, either. Thus begins the long trek towards getting answers from the author of the shoutbox.
Long story short: Expect the shoutbox to be gone a week or more. And at least a month after that before it doesn't look ugly as fuck. Don't like it? Tough shit.

Some text colors are burning my eyes. Like, different themes work differently with different colors, etc. Is it possible to lock text at a default color? Sometimes I can't even READ it
