Woman lassoed in bizarre accident
05 February 2004
A WOMAN crossing a road was thrown into the air after being lassooed by rope hanging from a passing van.
The 33-year-old, who does not wish to be named, was waiting at the junction of Blackfriars Road and St James Road, Lynn, when the rope wrapped around her leg – whipping her off her feet and lifting her into the road.
The woman said: "As I stepped out to cross the road, the piece of rope that was flailing about just wrapped itself around my ankle.
"It picked me up in the air and I just fell to the ground."
Unfortunately, she came down to earth with rather a bump.
"I landed on my back and really cracked my head," the woman said.
"I have thought thank goodness it was me and not someone elderly or a child it happened to.
"I have been left shocked and bruised. It could have been much worse."
She received medical treatment for her injuries after the accident, which happened at about 1.45pm last Thursday.
The vehicle involved was a white or cream transit van with red writing on the side and back.
Anyone with information should ring PC Paul Kerry at Lynn police station on 01553 691211.
