View Full Version : Things are getting a tad...Uncomfortable in work...

Well, it all started around the end of last year.

There was this new guy called Nazmul. He seemed nice enough, spoke pretty good english. I'm not someone to assume that if you weren't born in that country...You're a moron. It doesn't really work that way.
I stand by that now. When someone says "equality" they better mean it because you get all the good that comes with it...But you also get the bad. I won't go easy on anyone. You want to be treated equal, then I don't hold back.

Anyway. He basically seemed to be looking for a wife. Either that or he's just an absolute pillock.

He went about flirting with all the girls. He has this...Swagger, as one of my friends calls it...It's kinda annoying.
Anyways...
It seemed harmless and he stayed away from me, so I was all "It can't be that bad..."
And then he turned into an "arm stroker" as I call them. Weird people that you don't really know...Who like to stroke you.
He went about stroking girls hair, and he made other physical contact that wasn't really...Appropriate, especially since no one really knew him.

He went after one of the younger girls and she eventually told him to F-Off, really..Her exact words.
Then he went after another girl and got very mad a few days later when he found out she had a boyfriend. She was quite scared by this...Since to her, he was just someone she had met and worked with.
Then he went after another girl and got mad at her when he realized she was married.

That was stuff I witnessed myself. Or was in ear short of, at least.

He made a few attempts at bothering me.
He was easy enough to avoid because I work on a different floor of the store to him.
I refused to work with him or be anywhere near him on my own, simply because he seemed like a complete freak.

Then one night...
I was outside waiting for my dad. Normally on a Friday night, someone waits with me. But I told my friend to go as her boyfriend was waiting for her. I figured I'd be alright.
Then out comes Nazmul. I had my headphones in, figuring he'd buzz off if I ignored him.

No, he stands right in front of me. Only a couple inches from me...Way, way inside my comfort zone.
And I just say "bye." and then he starts talking, so I say "My dad will be here in a minute."
then he starts asking me all these personal questions.
I'm all "My dad will be here in a minute" hoping he'd get the hint...But he carries on.

Thankfully just as I was about to do something drastic, my dad turns up.
I was getting to that point where I shut off and go bonkers.
But I was actually very frightened. Some guy, kind of blocks you in, with your back against a wall...It's not very nice.
Not for anyone.

I made an official complaint the next day and no one took me seriously.

A few weeks passed...
And it took for him to go up to a new worker, a very young, shy girl...And thrust his groin in her face when she was kneeling down...To get their stupid attention!
It HAD to go that far before they bothered with it.

What the hell!

And today a few of us had this meeting to reconfirm our statements.
They basically don't really believe any of us.
He's acting all confused about it, apparently, he doesn't understand.
Yet he understood enough to actually go that far and do that to someone poor, unsuspecting girl!

Who...Then got her boyfriend to pound the living daylights out of him.
But hey, I can't blame the guy.
I'm surprised she didn't beat him up herself.

But I'm really mad about it all.
I wish they would just fire him already.

Dunno about how things are in the UK but this is a clear sexual harassment case here.

From what she's described to me, it's sexual harassment ten times over. Back when I was in the force, we took in people for less than this. This guy doesn't deserve to be treated with leniency, yet from the sound of it, he's barely getting punished at all

He's suspended with FULL PAY. It's like a freakin' holiday!

I'm soooo mad.

It's taking so long to sort out!
He's a nasty, horrible perverted thing and he needs to get the boot!

Video tape his antics.

Secretly.

According to Holly, he's been caught on tape plenty of times via security cams and the like. But they still do nothing

Yup. They have most of it on camera...
The only thing they don't have is the incident just outside of work. So that is literally my word against his.

They have enough to at least fire him until they sort out the legal stuff...But they won't.

If I worked there, I'd have taken it up with him something hardcore.

What, does he not respect women as human beings?

Ugh, that sounds like bullshit, Holly. I hope they do get rid of him, although it'd be nicer if they could've gotten him arrested. Who knows, maybe he'll pull an even stupider move and get himself into trouble.

I'm afraid that there's too few "stupider" things to do. I mean, if he gets arrested for this stuff, he'll likely just be all "police brutality!" and try to sue the Police Force, no joke. People who don't see that sexual harassment is unnacceptable aren't likely to change their tune overnight.

What a dick.. Still suspended is a good sign, means if he even comes back at he'll be on his last legs, and people like that can't change for long. Wouldn't be too long before he slips up again.

Bad show that your work doesn't believe all of you who complained though.. But I suppose it's easy to turn it around to "racial bullying" so it needs to be handled in a delicate way to protect the companies image.. Staff feelings are of secondary concern, we are but numbers after all...

He could start slapping asses and grabbing boobs.

Anyway im not too surprised not much has happened to him.

It is alike that sometimes at all work places. The people thjat deserved to be fired don't get fired and others that are better than them do get the boot, its really annoying.

This tends to piss me off.

Ever notice how the one who reaches for the race card is the one being racist, themselves? "Oh no way, there couldn't possibly be anything wrong with me as a person, they MUST hate me cause they're racist!" It's like they use it to "justify" their terrible behavior. No matter what they do, it's not wrong, everyone else around them is just racist. God I hate that.

The people thjat deserved to be fired don't get fired and others that are better than them do get the boot, its really annoying.

Quoted for the sheer truth of it. I've had 3 bosses (management-level, but still very expendable) and 4 co-workers whose antics were very clearly "do not want working for us" material, but instead kept framing everyone around them. I was fired from my first job over a very trivial misunderstanding involving a penciled-in shift change I hadn't been informed about ("We cannot depend on you, don't bother coming in to work today, you're no longer with the company, I've got your shift taken care of, bleh blah"), because the manager wanted to off everyone with enough experience to replace him (although it had only been roughly 3 months, I had effectively been doing his job for him the whole time) and I was on good terms with the owner and general manager.

And that's just my second location at my first job. My first? Boss was a colossal jerkwad. Gigantic fool. "Oh, cook this for 15 minutes at the same time as this thing is on that cooks for 15 minutes!" Except the other thing he wanted to cook for 15 minutes burned, badly, anytime it was heated for more than 3, which kept causing harm to not only the quality of our products, but also our equipment. Oh yeah, and anyone who wanted their food well done was rebuffed with "you're going to burn the oil." I shit you not 0_o. He was fired while I was off working at the second place, thankfully, but he had been there for 5 years before that.

ANd that's not even mentioning one of the managers at my 2nd job. So I was in charge of all the signs throughout the store, including in front. "Okay, go put these signs up beside the existing ones on the pillars in front of the store." "Problem. We only have enough Bungie cords to support 4 signs. Every cord is in use. We also don't have any rope at the moment since that's being used to tie down the bottom of our signs while the cords are at the top." "All I'm hearing is can't. Can't doesn't exist. Just fucking do what I tell you, when I tell you, how I tell you you dumb fucking sack of shit, and I'm telling you to put those signs up." "How?" "Don't you have a goddamn brain? Figure it out yourself!" I had to get another manager (who was actually the store owner, at the same time) to run to the hardware store to put more bungie cords on the store credit card because of this one manager. That manager's antics may have started there but got worse. "Hey new guy in the warehouse, lift these 400 lb machines without any training on proper lifting techniques." I was within earshot and casually decided to ask if he'd been trained in heavy lifting. "NO AND YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO HELP HIM OR I'LL FIRE YOU!" Well, what do I do the second her back is turned? Go over lifting with your legs (for unboxing. You lift the boxes up but they hug the styrofoam tight, feels like it weigs 100 lbs) and how to use the hand carts with something so heavy. Oh, and I got a black mark on my record for asking if he had been trained since I was "questioning her management techniques."

When it comes to the work force, I guess the best thing to do is just grin and bear it. You can always change careers later in life, so get money now while you can, right?

I'd have been the mate who kicked the tom out of that asshole for doing that to my girlfriend. Ugh, but I'm sorry Holly, it all works itself out in the wash eventually. Just keep having everyone come up with even more evidence and eventually management will get the clue.

Ugh. That is total bull.

I'm sorry you're having to go through that, Holly. Has anyone tried contacting the police? Like, just going over the company's head? Like others have said, he crossed over the sexual harassment line ages ago.

Miles

Apparently someone did call the police but I have no idea how far that got. Or what's going on with that.
But someone did, or so I was told.

It's a bit of a joke, really. Someone needs to do something but the people in charge of it all are taking their sweet time.
I heard we're likely to hear what's happening sometime over the next week...But the company I work for like to delay things. It's a real pain.

are any of your bosses women?

you could always give the bastard the idea that a female supervisor is into him. maybe he'll creep her out and get himself fired.

Well, I wanted to tell you all...

He came in today and they were going to "let him off with a warning" were their exact words. They called him in, basically slapped him on the wrist, told him he was a bad man and said "here's your uniform, you can start again tonight."
My horror. My absolute horror! I knew it was coming but I hoped I was just being negative...

Thankfully he realized he's not wanted and he resigned. Told them he didn't want to come back.
Thank god. I don't care how he went, as long as he went!
The sad thing is, he thinks he's right and we're all wrong...

So he's now free to go and treat other women the same...
It's like...It's going to take him to force himself on someone...Before anyone does a damn thing about it.
Sometimes I'm ashamed to live in this country.

But he's not going to be bothering me or anyone else in my job now. Thankfully.

He'll get his one day. Just with someone else tied up for hours in a messy court case instead of you / your co-workers.

This seems like the most likely.. Not that I think it'll change him.

It'll just end him.
