Gentlemen...
Through my research, I have come under the conclusion that the skills and fighting abilities of the character of Sherlock Holmes was from ninjutsu...

his character was recently shown to have trained in an art called baritsu - which was found to in fact be a deviation of bartitsu, a real martial art created by an Englishman who came back from a three year stay in Japan.

The art he was in fact teaching was Shinden Fudo Ryu...
As revealed as more aspects of the old art are being gathered, along with teachers and schools involved.

This is where they left me, and I took over...
Shinden Fudo ryu is a school used in defence, and is a central part in several of the remaining ninjutsu schools.
In fact - the history of Shinden Fudo Ryu is provided by none other than the Bujinkan organization, of which I'm a part of...
With our Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi being one of those to hold menkyo kaiden, and is soke of the art...
Others from various ninjutsu school also included in holding menkyo kaiden...

Thus I make the view that the art Sherlock Holmes in fact learn was a second hand version of one of the main ninjutsu schools..., though what he learned seems to comprise most of the basic jujutsu techniques used widely in japan by other arts - including judo and jujitsu...
