Ok gentlemen,
I have some time off and would like to start writting again...
I used to write short stories involving various fighters and warriors in history and was going to use this as a start for articles for later...
But work caught me up...

I have a couple I posted here, and will post those later -
but I was wondering if anyone wanted to see something in particular...

Any warrior or soldier type from history is fine...
I'd rather not do anything cliche like Samurai, or regular knight...
The more specific, the better...
I'll then write it and if you guys can critic it...

I thank any of you who can help for your time...

A Mongolian that follows Genghis Khan

I'd say a knight that follows King Arthur since some might not have liked his rule or perhaps that was all creap about him not knowing the will of his troops like they said in the anime Fate Stay Night. It has just been a long time since I watched any real good King Arthur stuff that I have forgotten somethings.

Another would be a follower or rival of Joan of Arc or Zhuge Liang.

Well, the first wouldn't even be a knight, since king arthur - if you try to find the closest reality, was welsh...
and fought the Romans..., using men who were more similar to huskarls...
Joan of arcs men were simply regular men of arm from the medieval point...
Zhuge Liang was an incredible thinker..., and his men would be distinct..., but hard to describe them in action as he used garrison archers in a very mechanical fashion. I would be willing to give it a shot...

The Mongol thing is also something I should try...
not enough is written about the Mangudai and Mahmud...

you could do one following the death of Qin Shi Huang. the protagonist could be a warrior or a bodyguard to Chen Sheng, one of the main leaders of the peasant rebellion against Qin Er Shi, the deceased emperor's son.

another could be a Tlaxcaltec warrior in an alliance with Cortés that's trying to undermine the alliance to get rid of the foreigners, but falls victim to greed and ends up having some sort of moral/spiritual epiphany.

If all else fails just make stuff up. If the writing is believable it doesn't have to be historically accurate. :P

Well, that's kinda of the thing - I'm making these as practice towards writing historical based articles and fiction - which are greatly scrutinized by historians ( specially the historical fiction ).

ah... so no ad lib huh?

you could always argue that just because it wasn't recorded doesn't mean it couldn't have happened. :cool

you could do something with the peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta.

Oh, trust me - I make that argument all the time.
Particularly with fighting technique....

Sword play in modern day is limited to what can be found written...
according to them, if it wasn't written - it was never done...

My view is that written manuals were rare - and those who made them were not always the best instructors - let alone fighters....

Also - it's like saying the manuals are the epitome of fighting...
An expert would simply surpass the book - that is true in any art or skill....
And then, much of what is written is misunderstood and taken too literally...

That is kinda my purpose to write these - to show how these styles would actually work in play...
Instead of using manual forms, karate like kata, and horrible horrible western martial arts...

I'm looking for warrior styles and soldiers though, not nationality...
Like with Spartans and Athens, it would be hoplites...

Others I have been asked about were Triarii - or more likely Hastati - and their various formation styles...
A lot is done about Romans, but not enough on their fighting form...

Another mentioned was oprichniks...,
though these would not be impressive, as attacking civilians and torturing them was more their style...

Anyway - work bogs me down, but I hope to get something done soon...
