Apparantly there are some who think otherwise.

Of course it's bad for you. People get cancer and lung problems through second hand smoke o.0
Which is why I'll always stand by "Smoking is selfish".
I'm so glad that they're making it illegal to smoke in public places now.
I can go out with my family and not have to worry about needing my medication because some selfish pillock wants to smoke indoors.

I say it depends, if its just a puff/release then its bad. If its inhale/exhale its not-so bad. Inhale/exhale isn't as bad because the vast majority of all the 'smog', and other nasties, thats in cigarettes stays in the smoker's lungs the leftovers are just plain tobacco smoke, with some leftover "extras" -depends on the smoker's lungs.
Tobacco itself isn't bad, its all the crap the tobacco industry adds to it thats bad. As unpleasant as second hand may, or may not, be...its not really bad, certainly not good, as long as its inhaled first.

2nd hand smoke is more dangerous then just outright smoking the bloody fag.
Since its filtered when they inhale, its less then half the poisons then what 2nd hand smoke affected people will get over time.

Wait...how is something thats already been filtered, by a person's lungs, be more toxic?
Or are you talking about the smoke that comes off the cigarette?

Both, horrible.
2nd hand smoke classifies as the mixture of both the burning end of the cigar / pipe / whatever's being puffed on, and the exhalation of the smoker.

anyone want to encourage me to quit? I want too, just don't think I can, too much stress in my life.

Quit or I won't wub you anymore.
But yeah pretty much like Holly said, if people just smoked and it just affected themselves by wearing dome things on their heads that would be fine, as it was only a short time before it was entirely selfish that you'd smoke, you'd then affect everyone around you whether you wanted to or not, but it wasn't your problem since it wasn't intentional.
So go the head dome!

I, and most people with common sense, will encourage you to quit and give you a dozen reason why. You should know every reason by this point so I won't bother.
Point being, if you understand its bad then quit. Stress is just an excuse, and a bad one at that; nicotine is a stimulant.
I would give you advice on how to quit, as an ex-smoker, but can't. I quit cold turkey, they were just something I did to distract myself -for 5 years. I can't admit that the though of going to a gas station and getting a pack hasn't crossed my mind every now and again...but my sheer laziness always gets in the way and I just end up going on while regretting not going for the rest of the day...and thanking my laziness the next.
Motivation? Don't use it. Encouragement? Useless. Don't give yourself things to whine about, don't think of reasons to quit or not to. Just stop buying them.

It is bad and rude as well. I hate it when anyone around me smkes, of course my mom is a chain smoker, so I have to deal with it.

I know from personal expirience that it's not so bad, but that from a long time and frequent exposure - it quickly showed it's effects...

My mother used to smoke. I shocked her out of it, though.
I told her that if she died due to her constant smoking...I'd never forgive her.
She quit right there and then.

I wish that worked for everyone, mine would just use it as a guilt trip later -_-

I tried everything to get my dad to quit, this man has had 4 heart surgery's and like 12 other miscellaneous so hes top on the should not be smoking list. I did EVERYTHING. He once came home from the store and bought a brand new 350 dollar leather jacket, I stole it from him and told him he would get it back when he stopped, I haven't bought him something for any occassion in the last 4 years, I had a kid and i have NEVER brought him down to my dads house cause he smokes.(My dad has of course seen nick a bunch of times just never at his house) I tell him thats the reason and if he wants to see nick he can come down to my house wheres its smoke free, don't get me wrong I dont go out and yell at people who smoke I just worry for my dads health since the dude is on his 9th life as it is.
and yes second hand smoke is worse for you.. PROVEN!

Someone on this site (who wishes to not be named) believes that the "proof" is all fabricated by the anti-smoking lobby.

Is it safe to assume that person is a smoker?
In my experience...Only smokers tend to believe things like that.
If we're going to start believing things like that then let's just say that nothing is proven and everything we know is all a sick joke.

Said person is not, and that was my reaction exactly.

Eh I... want to... but I'm not gonna get into this. That person can stand by the smokers while I stand across the street and we'll see who gets cancer first.

Said person probly just wants to be different.
Either way. Regardless of what fairy stories people want to believe it. Second hand smoke IS bad for you.
I don't do scientific but I swear that clogging up oxygen with smoke that's already clogged up someone elses lungs...Can't be good for you.

Well.
I highly doubt that breathing in smoke, that's giving the smoker a higher risk of getting cancer, is good for you.
I thought it would be more common sense than anything, really.
