What is the worst RPG you ever played?

Well, its a tough call for me. I'm not very critical of games, and i have a hard time calling a game "bad", but i would have to say the worst RPG ever is Legend of A'lon Dar for PS2. I normally wouldn't have gotten this game, but i got it free when i bought Jade Cocoon 2 and Grandia 2, so why not, lol. It is impossibly hard, its difficult to tell where to go next, and it has various other problems too, such as lack of exp and money.

Onimusha Tactics- Boring ass game. All I do care about is the storyline.

Cima: The Enemy- This game is hard as hell...stupid action games.

FFTA- Uh...there wasn't much of a story in the game. Plus, it was stressful gaining levels, etc.

Saga Frontier 2- I liked 1, but 2 is a disgrace. It's..too damn hard.

Vagrant Story- *shudders*

The concept and character design in Vagrant Story were above par in the time it came out and is still rated as above par compared with previous titles and titles now. The artwork is considered to be close to the best that was produced in any game, and no im not talking visual effects or fmvs im talking artwork.

So basically your saying, a game that was, has and is proven to be a damn good game is the worst rpg you can think of because your older?

I wouldnt call Vagrant story a dungeon crawler, per say. Although you DID spend more or less ALL your time in some sort of dungeon, it isnt like you repeatedly went into a dungeon, then returned to a single town, etc, as it is with most dungeon crawlers.

That game wasn't easy...
The whole making your weapon stronger crap was hard. At that time I didn't own a computer, so no faq for me. Even so, the only place that I got stuck and gave up was this maze. The boss was hard, but I can manage to beat them. The games a bit boring IMO.

Cause you're in the dungeon the whole time. I prefer to go out and travel around. It's sort of like Xenosaga, but worse. The graphics, monster looks awesome but...meh.

Well, first of all, the graphic. Its like one color on each object.
And its already hard when you fight for the first time when you are adult. The game doesn't give much of explanation where to go next (direction), you can easy die if you only click on wrong command, and much more.

I liked Breath of Fire 1 better, anyway, its only my meaning..

Well, i must admit, finding where to go can be problematic sometimes. I've had numerous difficulties so far. Also the difficulty of battles is too much sometimes. I mean, i dont object to occasional difficulty, but BOF2 can be ridiculous.

well i actually liked parasite eve 1 and 2. as for bof...hmmm. i liked the first 2..but when i played 3 for the ps 1....it sucked...and i mean horribly. i heard bof dragon quarter for the ps2 is actually good though. if you really want to play poor examples of rpgs get baldurs gate dark alliance 1 and 2. the first time through they're sorta fun but after that you'll never pick them up again. they are way too linear and each ending is a cliff hanger leaving you with no sense of fulfillment.

Oooh I never saw this one...BOF 2 is my favorite one...yeah the translation is bad but the battles were never really that hard to me. Oh and I love the soundtrack but the dungeon music in that game is just plain awful..lol Oh well to each his own I guess. The hardest Bof game to me is Dragon Quarter but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. Oh I have one of the dragon warrior games for gameboy..it was okay but I never really got into it.

ok the sory goes tha this town was attacked by a dragon, there was a dragon valor those whos pourpose was to slay dragons...he died. Then this guy from the town his chick died...so he grabbed the sword in hopes of killing the dragon for vengeance, then the paths you take later on affect what story you play ie dos he end up being evil do you play as a pirate or a prince but all end up to slaying this dragon welp thing thats supposed to be uber powerful.

darkstone was crap, of course it was a cheap game to begin with and usaully you get what you pay for. lol. an online rpg i couldn't stand was dark ages. it has beautiful old school graphics and charm but the introductory missions suck and the combat is slow and akward unles you are a supreme master at all the key commands.

Shadow Madness for the N64 was pretty horrible. I remember playing a demo for it and loving it, so I payed $60 for a game that was a complete suckfest.

Hybrid Heaven for the N64 had a great concept when it came to the battles, but it just wasn't executed well enough and wound up being a nightmare to play.

I...can't believe what I'm seing! Unlimited Saga was one of the greatest RPGs I've played! Some of the characters' storylines sucked alot more than others, but that is really quite a great game if you choose wisely.

The worst storyline I've seen in a while was Dark Cloud 2. The dialogue sucked too, and none of the characters had any personality. However it is surprisingly entertaining.

I've heard some of the "Legend of Link" games or whatever they're called were awful... but the worst ever was Megaman Battle Chip Challenge. Basically what you do is you chose a bunch of attacks, then just fight opponents. Your attack is chosen at random of the ones you picked.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (PS2) - Having played all of the previous installments in the series, it was kind of a disgrace to see how they completely changed around nearly everything about the series for this game. I hated the gameplay, the characters, the story, and battle system - among other things. The only good thing about this game for me was the sound.

Lord of the Rings Vol 1: The Fellowship of the Ring (SNES) - The AI that controls your party members is incredibly stupid. And when they die, you don't get them back. Not only that, but you have to walk everywhere. It's not that bad, until you have to start looking for certain items that are incredibly hard to find. The dungeons are also massive and have no maps really...so it's easy to get lost. And there is no real ending either.

Also, any SNES dungeon crawler. I hated those.

Agreed. Not only is FF6 the best, but I just tried Suikoden Tactics not too long ago and it was kickass. I'm buying it.

Also, I never tries Summoner, But Summoner 2 (PS2) aka Summoner: A Goddess Reborn (Cube) was a kickass game and I loved it to death while I was renting it.

Hmm... worst RPG ever... that would have to be The Lord of the Rings game for the SNES.

Okay, so reading all these posts, I was surprised to see quite a few of my fav games on the list. I personally think Breath of Fire III, Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve were all great games. That being said, I've got a few to add to the list... Unlimited SaGa was probably one of the most disappointing games I've EVER bought. The first .hack series to come out was also pretty bad. Story was great, but gameplay was way too repetetive. (And I used to play PSO. >_>) .hack//GU, while also cursed with repetetiveness, is a great series. Wild ARMS:Alternative F was also kinda lame. Not nearly as cool as the original, and 10x more vague.

Did you actually play the whole series, and play it correctly (not just going through everything with the same equipment?) The elemental system in that game was one of my favorites ever.

Yeah, not so much the fights that got me, it was the virus core system... I mean I could only hack so many gates before it was like OMG I'm taking a break from this damn game. An' yeah, the elem. system in that game was GREAT if you made the most out of it. XD Man, I've heard mixed reviews on FFXII... never did get a chance to play it. I also heard ShadowHearts 3 wasn't so great either.
