hmm... in a fight Freya would win, because she has a big list of moves and trance attacks, but Kain is the classic Dragoon and uber cool. I voted for Kain, but I really think it's even. If Kain was in a later game he'd probably have moves that are at least equal with the ones Freya had.

Just because Gareth was first doesnt make him the "true" dragoon. If thats the criteria for it, then technically the characters in FF1 are the best fighter, knight, thief, ninja, fistfighter, and mages/wizards in FF history, which COULD be argued, but not very well.

I've never played FF2, but i'm gonna bet Gareth wasnt hot shit or anything. At least no more than Kain is/was.

Freya is underappreciated just because shes a rat and because of this same reason moogles and moombas are adored which then leads to bashing of the rat race where she can jump higher then Kain and wield funkier lances therefore making her > Kain.
