Carbuncle was never one of my favorite summons..but Phoenix has always been one of my favorites. Sooo I went with Phoenix.

Actually, in 9, Carbuncle wasnt as bad as usual. You could equip Eiko w/ gems that made it so instead of Reflect, it cast Protect, or Shell, or even Haste (i think). The downside was that you had to use Eiko's accessory slot for the gem

yeah, but I still never used him. I hardly used any summons in that one.

To be honest I think Carbuncle is COOL!
But....he doesn't do any damage and pheonix
can revive KO'd characters.

Carbuncle is really only useful against mage types
or Magic-only monsters.

i think carbuncle is useless all he does is cast reflect now let me tell you what is bad about reflect yeah it protects you from magic but if the enemy can cast reflect also on its self then the reflect on you is useless........secondly if your low on hp then cure spells are also affected by reflect and if you have no items your stuffed


so my vote is for Pheonix obviously
