You all know I have a big fucking problem with Fox news as it is. I don't feel the need to recap. So when I saw this in my inbox, I was half sick to death, half hopeful that they finally pissed enough people off to spell their demise.

First, a paid FOX commentator accidentally confused "Obama" with "Osama" and then joked on the air about killing Obama. Next, a FOX anchor said a playful fist pound by Barack and Michelle Obama could be a "terrorist fist jab." (Seriously!) And then, FOX called Michelle Obama "Obama's baby mama"--slang used to describe the unmarried mother of a man's child.

Fair and balanced my ass. How often do you hear that kind of bullshit on MSNBC or CNN?

Moveon.org is sponsoring a petition to let them know they've gone too far. Please sign it if you agree.

Well, I've always known that those on Fox news must have a combined IQ equal to that of a brain-dead monkey.
But then I realized that was an insult to the brain-dead monkey.
This somewhat surprises me, but not totally. Fox news is a joke.
Though they SOMETIMES are good at doing their jobs. But those instances are rare and far between.

Holy hell.
Dear MoveOn member,

Big news! Your petition signature telling FOX to stop their racist smears against the Obamas had a really exciting day on Wednesday. Here's what happened:
1:00 p.m. Your signature was printed off at a New York City Kinko's along with 620,126 others—filling 19 big boxes.

2:00 p.m. The signatures were piled in front of FOX's national headquarters at 6th Avenue and 48th Street.

3:15 p.m. Hip hop star Nas (whose new album had just risen to #1 on the Billboard charts hours earlier) joined over 100 activists and delivered the petitions to FOX on behalf of ColorOfChange, MoveOn, and Brave New Films.

3:30 p.m. FOX refused to accept the petitions. (Sometimes, the truth hurts.)

4:00 p.m.—9:00 p.m. News of FOX's racism and the star-studded petition delivery made its way around the world—with stories in Rolling Stone, Billboard, USA Today, Associated Press, Reuters, India Express, Huffington Post, MTV, OpenLeft, and over 200 other places.

11:30 p.m. Stephen Colbert welcomed Nas as his guest on the Colbert Report and dedicated over half of his show to FOX's racism. The boxes containing our signatures were stacked prominently on Colbert's set in place of his normal interview table and chairs—and he conducted the entire interview surrounded by petitions! Then, Nas performed his new song "Sly Fox," which is all about FOX's racism.

12:00 a.m. Several MoveOn staffers, jaws dropped open, got on the phone and engaged in several rounds of, "Wow!" :)

Since then, the news has kept spreading around the world. You sent a message to FOX, and that message was very much received!

And the fight's not over. Together, we've denied FOX the legitimacy that would come by hosting Democratic presidential debates, and we got a company to stop advertising on Bill O'Reilly. This week's delivery made an impact, and we'll continue to push back together against FOX's racism and their smears against Obama.

But for now, enjoy the video of Wednesday's petition delivery—led by our friends at ColorOfChange—and the video of Colbert. Both videos are at this link:

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. You can listen to Nas's new single "Sly Fox" on the Colbert video at the link above. If you like it and want to buy the full album, it's available here:

With luck, more advertisers will join in against Fox. I feel really good about myself though.

Publicity doesn't mean shit if they lose advertisers. And this is the wrong kind of publicity to begin with.

Any publicity is good publicity, plus now people who don;t want fox would be wondering "what's so bad that's got everyone all antsy" and will then watch fox to find out.

Seriously dude, after all the shit you've said about Fox, you go and join MoveOn.org? Do I really have to explain how fucking retarded that is, or should I just save myself the trouble and read every political post you make from now on as "I'm a goddamn hypocrite"?

Apparantly I'm a member because I signed that petition. It's not like I eagerly registered with them or anything. The first e-mail I got was from another Obama supporter, since I am registered as a volunteer and all.

Incidentally, my problem with Fox has never been their partisanship. It's been their immoral journalism, which is exactly what this petition is about.

"Immoral journalism" is largely in the eye of the beholder.

You really feel that calling a presidential candidate you don't like a terrorist is good journalism?

Advertisers will not let go of FOX news...
The simple truth is that there are those out there - be them intelligent or not - who watch the show and ignore the rest out there...
They ignore it out of ignorance, or of simple disagreement - but they watch FOX news because that's what they want to hear. In my view it is a society of ignorance that feeds itself in a cycle..., but it's somewhat understandable -
though I must point out not only stupid people watch it...
Several very intelligent people I know watch FOX news...
of course, they tend to be rather: racist, prejudiced, arrogant, elitest, cold hearted, and most normally stubborn...or a combo of all....

In the end, these people will keep watching - despite the stunts pulled by the younger generation...
The acts of a rapper, or tv comedian, or a bunch of young college students is simply something ignored and disdained by the target audience of the show...
