View Full Version : Stairway to heaven, applied to the primaries

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

Clinton, obviously.

(And) when she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for

The word? "Clinton." Her inevitability at the beginning caused her to "know" that it would take a
minimum effort to win. It also relates to her wanting to buy something from the "stores" of Florida and Michigan despite them being closed.

Ooh ooh ooh...ooh...ooh ooh ooh And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings

A newspaper on the wall, with predictions of Obama's victory, and her disbelief at that prospect.

In the tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven

Oooh...It makes me wonder
Oooh...It makes me wonder

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving

America is the western most part of the world, and these lines speak about the attention this election got from the rest of the world. Dunno what they meant about spirits though.

In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking

The signs of America's decline, and the many people who brush it off as nothing and just watch.

Oooh...It makes me wonder
Oooh...Really makes me wonder

And it's whispered that soon, if we all called the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter

The piper? Obama, obviously. Accused of hypnotizing his voters with his powerful charisma and message, similar to the pied piper. The forest, again, is America.

Woe woe woe woe woe oh
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen

I'm sorry, what?

Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on

This fortells the arrival of "Obamacans" and and the party lines being blurred in the election.

And it makes me wonder...ohhh ooh woe

Your head is humming and it won't go -- in case you donīt know
The piper's calling you to join him
See above.

Dear lady can you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

Dunno about this one.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
Soulless politicians and what have you.
There walks a lady we all know
Another Clinton reference

Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all, yeah
To be a rock and not to roll
Ooooooooooooh

And she's buying a stairway to heaven

Way too many meaningless lines to be entertaining...

Also, aren't the primaries over? Let's chill with the Hill-bashing?

Where's the hil bashing? And do you have to be negative to everything? Why not try to help me figure out what these prophets meant instead.

Led Zeppelin is one of the most overrated bands ever. Stairway to Heaven is a highly overrated song.

No shit.

I truly wouldn't consider Crowley-lover guitarist or his bandmates to be prophets of any sort.

He was into the black arts? Fuck yeah.

Yeah, he has one of the bigger collections of original Crowley manuscripts in the world. I think he even bought a house that Crowley owned, where they recorded some of Led Zeppelin IV. This is all going from memory though.

Where's the hil bashing? It also relates to her wanting to buy something from the "stores" of Florida and Michigan despite them being closed. You also compare her to somebody believing that all that glitters is gold, blatantly insulting.

And do you have to be negative to everything?Yes.

Oh come on.

Think about what you said for a second.

It's historical fact. If anything I was being insulting to Obama by comparing him to a hypnotist.
