Cause I really need it badly more now then ever. I'm really running low on HD space after installing DoW Soul Storm. Anyway, I still keep having problems getting this external hard drive connected period. I don't know how many times I have this fucking thing turned off and on before start up on the computer and still no show of it ever being under my computer after start up. Also I check under add hardware under the add hardware wizard. And i see two things that look like a hard drive...one named ST340014A and WDC WD2500JB-00REA0 USB Device. >.> Not sure which is what but can't really do much there either except run the troubleshooter wizard after that. All which is tries to get ou to do is crap with the USB ports. And I know the USB ports are running through those spots cause I use my ipod connected through that one and my tablet too.
>.> Any ideas how I can fix it to work on my PC. it never came with any software to install so it should instantly work wherever you plug it in. And its plugged in >.>
And no stupid responses either let alone ones like saying. Are you sure its plugged in? >.> I'm in no mood for those.

Try plugging it into a different port.

It never came with a installation CD originally. So I'd guess no, making it plug and play only....

What model of HDD is it?
The shell/outter casing is from ADS Tech
The HD itself is Western Digital

Try rebooting without it plugged in then try. Also, try plugging it in and going into Device Manager and telling it to 'scan for hardware changes'

For one apparently it wasn't set to master or single.

Despite you fixing the problem in question, if you can't tell which one is what based on your own words there you have problems.
You state that it's a western digital & external and then go on about usb ports (which would be the connection type) obviously it's the WDC USB device as WD stands for Western Digital.

Well I didn't know the make of it cause I never looked at the HD itself until i went to inspect the inside of it later on. My mother was the one who put it all together in the first place >.>
