So, let's talk about which OS you prefer more.
I like the Vista OS more, as far as I can tell. I tried it out at an XPS booth at the mall a while back and the UI was the primary thing I liked. It was sleek, condensed, and practical. And the way files were organized in the start menu was also a step up from XP. That's about all I really had time to notice, since the XPS computer blocked out most functions, since it was a display model.

I like the gadgets on Vista, rotating backgrounds and the increased functionality of the usually bland single purpose desktop through such gadgets (eg current weather temps, countdown timers, email, alerts etc) but I dislike the changes to the networking protocols as they prove to be just an added hassle when considering lanning for no benefit other than 'increased security' and the security prompts for random newbies (You wish to scratch your ass, cancel or allow?) is a tad over the top. Unfortunately I have no experience with Mac OS' outside of Linux, but from what I have heard in regards to the initial Mac OSX release, it still knocks the pants off of Vista as far as stability goes, which is my main concern.

I think vista is ok but there are others I have seen and used that I prefer over Vista. I don't like the really high security that vista uses. I don't need that high of security.

Another thing I like about it is that it has a column on widgets on the right side of the screen. I'm not a widget fanatic but I do admit that I would have a use for a few of them.
The security alerts wouldn't bother me, really. Considering that Vista is threatened by more viruses than OSX, it's perfectly reasonable for them to take extra measures.
I have to use a Mac, since my sister broke my PC and my parents like Mac more. What is the purpose of having an icon bar when you have a desktop right there? Also, it doesn't function well with many games.

It's reasonable yes, however I found them to be overly annoying in the sheer frequency of them, where it would simply become a (and this is exacerbated) you double click and have a security prompt making sure you want to open said application. The concept is great, that it's informing people of what actions they might not have thought of (such as force ending operations in taskmanager) so yeah, it's just the frequency.
As for Mac's yeah they lack the support which devs give it, but they have add ons which enable cross OS gameplay, so it kinda of mimics windows. Overall though, they're mainly for a dual boot in my opinion. Mac OSX for networking and general internet searching and Windows for gameplay.
