"I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100," Kazumi Kitaue told Reuters in an interview a day before the start of E3. "I don't expect a substantial impact... With $500, you can buy a personal computer."

The Konami executive added that Metal Gear Solid, which debutted on the original PlayStation in 1998, may go to other consoles as a result to recoup development costs.

"Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps," Kitaue said.

Konami is expected to release Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3 in early 2008. To date, Sony has lost several once exclusive games to other platforms including Grand Theft Auto IV and Beautiful Katamari due to poor PS3 sales.

Uh oh.

Oh, that's really bad. Sony needs at least some exclusives at this point, and if they lose MGS, all they have is FFXIII (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong)...and even that is going multiplatform to some extent.

I would laugh. So hard. Then go buy MGS 4.

I dunno. MGS2 came to the Xbox and that version of the game blew so hard it wasn't worth the 6 bucks I paid for it. I'd love to see MGS4 say PS3 exclusive for at least a year or so. They need it.

I doubt that they'll let it go so easily. They already asked Hideo if he would like it on the 360 and he said absolutely not.

Rofl. XD 6 bucks?

And my friend bought that game. He was fine with it. I guess one to his own.

Though they will try to do something to keep going. But they sorta had it in for them making it so expensive.

That is incorrect they will still have God of War 3 as an exclusive and of course any other game that Sony makes in house. The only exclusives that are big for the Xbox 360 still are Halo 3 and Fable 2 since Gears of War and Saints Row have been out for a while.

Sony either needs to cut the price of the Ps3 a little more say another $50 in order to get more exclusive games or make a lot of their games in house which is seeming like what they are and will have to do.

And even though its going to be multi-platform, I know a LOT of people who would want to play Assassin's Creed on PS3 rather than Xbox 360.

I am one of them, as I have yet to own a Xbox 360 and my dad has a PS3. Also the Ps3 has more power so the game might look a bit better in that version although I doubt that it will be any different from the Xbox 360 version other than the controls.

The PS3 won't go down so easily. There is still plenty of time for it to turn it around and pass the 360 as the best next-gen console and eventually pass the Wii once more people buy HDtvs, get used to Blu-ray, and want games that are bloody, gorey, or RPG like which the Wii always lacks as Nintendo makes mainly kid fun games.

I am one of them, too.

I want Oblivion for PS3, too.

Because it plays at a higher framerate and everything.

Exactly, when one thinks of Metal Gear and the series they don't think of Kazumi Kitaue, they think of Hideo Kojima. Personally I would like to see MGS4 make it to the 360, so that Hideo can walk out on Konami and then Kitaue would so have egg on his face and Metal Gear would be without its father.

Anyway, the PS3 has some good games on the horizon without forking out 2mil just to buy exclusivity (MS with GTAIV) Heavenly Sword (http://www.heavenlysword.com/) springs to mind as one such title.

This is unlikely, if they were gonna go multiplatform, it'd have happened by now...

If they do, I think I'll crack open a bottle of champagne, though.

Just cuz I've yet to celebrate anything with champagne.

Hideo's a weird guy, he said in one article that if they forced him multiplatform it he would jump out of a 20 story window.

Well, for some reason, he hates Xbox.

The new PS3 E3 thread looks promising.
