which format do you prefer with racing games? this is one of the few genres of game where I have a definite preference and that's 3D. the more realistic the game looks and the more realistic the physics in the game are the better it is to me.

3d. Super Mario Kart was good and all...but it lacked the in depth everyone likes. And 3d racing is a lot better. Especially the games with cool crashes XD

yeah. especially in an arcade setting where you get a nice seat with speakers right in your ear and a steering wheel to go with it. you can get all that stuff for home but the arcade feeling with it is just better.

Actually if you have the dough you can buy a personal arcade racer game XD I've seen them for sale before at a place that fixes and sells the things.

I work for Namco, remember? I can easily get stuff like that. A used racing cabinet wouldn't be very hard to get for me. I don't play enough racing games for it to be worth doing.

3D racing games are much better. I think it's easier to play them in 3D. I tried playing Super Mario Kart the other day, and it was pretty hard, I kept swerving off the road and such (I was really good at it back in the day.) Also, them being in 3D adds to the experience, especially in an arcade setting.

Btw Lathan, that's news to me that you work for Namco. o.O

Uhh...didn't know you work for them let alone what you did for a job XD

He works at a Namco owned arcade. This is general knowledge...

Anyway, Poll Position was fucking excellent, but 3d is all-around better.

I pick 3D, just because of Burnout. :)

3d racing games are far better than 2d.

3D~ I mean, when it comes to some of the older 2D games...It's not like I hate them. But I'm not a huge racing fan, I just love fun racing games...Oh, and Wipeout. I love Wipeout. Only ever played the PS1 and N64 ones, though.
Didn't see the point in playing any of the newer ones...Don't have anyone to play with o.o;

Aladdin's Castle to be exact. Bandai-Namco owns Aladdin's Castle, Timeout, Cyberstation, and a couple of other chains. Tilt and Gameworks are some of the only major competitors that aren't part of that family.

I like a bit of both of them, but overall I prefer 3D racers. I love the Mario Kart series, but I also like games like Need for Speed: Most Wanted and similar games that offer a lot of car customization, and games like Burnout which are just fun to play no matter what. I still play my fair share of Super Mario Kart, Rad Racer, Rock 'N' Roll Racing, and other 2D racers, though.
