The World's Favorite Animated Family Comes To Consoles and Handhelds This Fall!
Redwood Shores, Calif., - May 9, 2007 - Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced the upcoming release of THE SIMPSONS GAME (working title). Created in partnership with Gracie Films and Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, THE SIMPSONS GAME features a hilarious, sprawling, and mind-busting storyline crafted by the TV show's Emmy Award-winning writers. The action-comedy will also feature the full cast of voice actors from the TV show who will reprise their roles for the game.
In THE SIMPSONS GAME, Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa use exciting, all-new powers to save the world from rising chaos. To help the Simpsons, gamers at home must journey through all of Springfield (as well as vast worlds beyond!), vanquish an amazing array of villains, and fight their way through parodies of multiple popular games.
"Our goal in developing THE SIMPSONS GAME is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with 'The Simpsons' creative team," said Scot Amos, Executive Producer of the project. "We're also especially proud of the game's warm visual feel, which captures - for the first time ever in a game - the look of the TV show." Added Amos, "As Comic Book Guy says, 'Best. Simpsons Game. Ever!'"
"The EA group was so enormously talented and beyond belief energetic that I am thinking of suing for second hand exhaustion," said James L. Brooks, Executive Producer of "The Simpsons."
Under development by EA's Redwood Shores Studio, THE SIMPSONS GAME is scheduled for release in Fall 2007 for the PLAYSTATION®3, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), Xbox 360™, Nintendo Wii™ and Nintendo DS™.

I have the Simpsons Hit n Run game but I never beat it. It was however a fun game for about a month or so. I may look into this game but I probably won't buy it.

Lol. Sounds like another hit and run game. That game got too boring too fast. And was also to hard to even beat later on. XP

EA's The Simpsons Game Unveiled Alongside The Simpsons 400th Episode (http://www.ea.com/simpsons/news.jsp)
A carnival atmosphere pervades as people in Squishee brand cut-off tees serve bright red and blue drinks from the store front of the Kwik-e-Mart and servers with tall blue wigs take drink orders.
It's hot on the FOX lot, but on the set of what appears to be Main Street, Everytown USA the event feels like a block party. The slick socialites and chest-slung babies that dot the FOX lot speak to the mass appeal of the Simpsons, and though they are all waiting for the much anticipated 400th episode, everyone is busy taking photos on the familiar Simpsons' couch or enjoying fajitas from the Krusty Burger.
A large film screen looms over a DJ. A naked running Homer is projected on screen, "The streak continues…" it says.
Elsewhere in the FOX studio, EA prepares to unveil the Simpsons Game to the press for the first time. Stand-ups border a large flat screen, each portrays the Simpsons characters comically interjected into game settings, they read: "NeverQuest," "Medal of Homer," "Bartman Begins," and "Grand Theft Scratchy."
As the press files in, there is a sense that something special is about to take place. Despite the fact that if one looks back, this is the 22nd in a storied series of Simpsons' titles, the fact that the announcement of this game is taking place alongside the staggering accomplishment of the series' 400th installment, sets it apart as unique.
Once everyone is settled, the event begins. After a brief introduction the series' writers are introduced: Tim Long, Matt Selman and Matt Warburton take the stage. They talk for a few minutes about the experience of writing the original script for the game, close to an hour of original cinematics, and 8,000 lines of dialogue define the game as an extension of the show itself.
After the writers finish talking, the demo begins. We see the first glimpse of the game. A level entitled, "Around the World in 80 Bites," showcases Homer as he runs through the Duff Brewery, eating everything from tacos to Chinese takeout. As never before, the game looks like just the show, bringing familiar characters like Barney Gumble and The Bumblebee Man to life.
As the demo concludes, Matt Groening enters the room and speaks enthusiastically about the game alongside the writers. He tells the press about the unique experience of playing an original season of the Simpsons, and the writers speak about the title as a rebirth of Simpsons as an interactive experience. Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart, shows up as well to show her support.
After the press leaves the room, people filter across the street. The sun sets softly on the same street, and hanging lights are lit overhead. Groening takes the stage and humbly thanks the animators of the show, the sound team, and everyone responsible for the last 20 years of the Simpsons.
As the lights dim and the familiar theme plays, we watch the 400th episode together, in the streets. As one looks across hundreds of faces, it is easy to see that the Simpsons is not merely a show, a movie, or a game, but an experience that has touched us all, its distinctly human humor is electric as the whole crowd chuckles, roars, and smiles together.

FIRST DETAILS: AMN checks out the EA-published game based on the widely-popular cartoon series.
EA shows off the latest version of The Simpsons game at a press event to celebrate the 400th episode of the television show in LA.
Confirmed as multi-platform, The Simpsons will see all of the voice-actors from the show reprising their roles which will include around 8,000 lines of dialogue.
The game will feature 53 minutes of TV episode-quality cinematics but the story, which is still in beta, forms around the characters being sucked into a video game.
There will be many references to other EA titles and a ton of cameos from secondary characters of the show including Kang and Kodos (the space helmet wearing aliens).
The game was running at 30 fps and looked strikingly similar to the cartoon.
The Wii version will include a mini-game where Homer is in a eating contest and players must use the Wii remote as a spoon.
The level that was shown at the event was called "Around the World in 80 Bits" and featured Homer eating a bunch of ethnic foods (including the Insanity Chili Pepper from the "Vision Quest" episode) and growing into a huge, Katamari-esque, ball of lard.
Each level will feature a different set of characters, setting and story with a total of 16 "episodes".
Player will be able to switch between two different members of the family (not including Maggie) or go split-screen in a co-op mode. Each family member has their own abilities which can be used to solve puzzles.
Character-specific powers include Bart turning into "Bartman" and being able to glide to remote platforms while Marge's "Super-Nag" powers allow her to take control over crowds of Springfieldians (due to the nature of the event, Marge’s power may have been a joke).
Another part of the gameplay will include a collecting element which at the event showed off a needed 25 Duff bottle caps.
AMN will continue to keep you updated on the latest details.
