Faxanadu...yes it's an RPG..You gain experience...and you equip weapons and armor and stuff. Well it's more of an Action RPG but all in all it's the first one I played and it's one of the greatest games for NES. Second RPG I played would be Willow and it's one of the few movie to game transitions that was actually good.

zelda was the first action rpg i played and ff2 (ff4 in japan),lunar,and ultima were the first standard rpgs i experienced. i guess its because of this i'm a jaded soul who believes the best rpgs were the ones that came out many years ago. lol.

I agree. I have so many fond memories playing those early rpgs that I base my judgement on all other rpgs off of them.

yeah they just don't make them like they used to. sure todays rpgs have pretty graphics but what the hell happened to the storyline and deep character development? if you compare the dialogue of ff 6 which is brilliant to ffx-2 it makes the interaction of yuna rikku and paine look like it was written by a bunch of 5th graders.

ff 9 was a great game but ff6 was still better at least in my opinion. it's funny that rpgs for the ps 1 and snes still rock while the more recent rpgs have suffered from a lapse in creativity accept for perhaps xeno saga and suikoden 3.

not all modern rpgs are like that though. Xenosaga and Suikoden 3 have both great graphics and a great story and very well developed characters.

yeah they are the rare wonderful exceptions to the general rule. i can't wait until xeno saga 2 comes out.

i just can't believe i bought ff x-2 over another couple of good games. i guess it was the reduced price that appealed to my inner cheap bastard. lol. i admit there have been fun moments in x-2 but a proably should have gotten drakenguard or onimusha 3.

My first RPG was Final Fantasy 2 for the SNES. I can't remember any RPGs except Dragon Warrior before the SNES. I know I'm wrong there, but I just don't know of any others.

Dragon Warrior... I had no idea what the hell I was doing but I played it for about two weeks and gave up... I was In kindergarden and had a short attention span. Now I can sit in front of a game for almost an entire day lol.

FF7. Wild Arms came out over here in 1996 but that didn't get any publicity so hardly anyone knew about it. With FF7 there was a huge fuss for the FIRST ROLE PLAYING GAME EVER RELEASED IN ENGLAND!!!! Or maybe not. I think I was.....10 or something at the time. Man, what a loooong time ago...

My first RPG was Final Fantasy 1 way back when it was for NES. I was 5 so all I really did was get money and items for my brother. I have FF Origins I still need to play it. Then I can add FF1 and FF2 to my games I have beat. I'm at ernd of 6 and 5 I really don't like much but middle way through it or so. Haven't played it in like 2 years tho so i'm lost on its story anyway :(
