*sees topic title, screams "Hah, I predicted it! Ah, crap!"*
Glad it's a game and not a real war! I've always liked Tom Clancy games, despite not owning any. I'm looking forward to it.

Tom clancy books are better then the games...Seriously. I tried playing some of those FPS's and they were utter and complete shit. Just barely put together to put onto shelves and be made to sell.

First concrete details on Ubisoft's EndWar (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=163060)
Monday 30-Apr-2007 12:21 PM Console-only Clancy RTS being headed-up by ex Total War man - more details inside
The first concrete details on Ubisoft's new Tom Clancy franchise EndWar have reached the internet via US mag Electronic Gaming Monthly, and we seem to be getting more excited with every morsel of info we hear.
In case you missed the initial announcement (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=162648) EndWar is essentially an RTS mish-mash of Clancy franchises built from the ground up for consoles.
Apparently it's being directed by ex-Creative Assembly man Michael de Plater, who worked on the legendary PC strategy series Total War.
Action plays out on a Risk-like campaign map with three factions, U.S. Joint Strike Force, European Enforcers and Russian Spetsnaz, available for war duties. According to Ubisoft, each campaign will be different, giving the example that if the US is conquered in one campaign you can start the next "to liberate U.S. soil with a massive new 'D-Day' landing on the East coast."
"[The Battle for Middle-earth II] was a test case for exactly what we didn't want to do", says the Endwar boss, in reference to re-mappping controls for a console RTS. In answer to this Ubisoft has gone for a tighter, up-close camera along with your bog-standard battlefield map.
Everything in the game is destructible and there's a limit of 12 squads in battle at one time, which you can personalise with your own special abilities, motto and heraldry.
Apparently, there's also some impressive feats in how the AI works in the game. According to the EGM article, squads of heavily armed soldiers, when ordered to a cluster of firebombed cars, will automatically take cover in different ways, taking potshots through windows and over hoods. If a soldier gets shot, one of his squad mates will even drag him back to safety.
The question is, will Ubisoft be able to conquer the dodgy joypad RTS controls we've seen up until now? Lets hope it manages to iron them out before EndWar hits 360 and PS3 early next year.

EndWar - in screens not scans (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=163581)
Wednesday 9-May-2007 2:16 PM First pair of shots give crystal-clear viewing of Tom Clancy's dive into strategy
In answer to the hordes of magazine readers who fired up their scanners last week Ubisoft has released the first official shots of Tom Clancy's EndWar and ooh - look and those explosions!
For newcomers it's essentially an RTS mish-mash of Clancy franchises built from the ground up for consoles. It's being directed by ex-Total War man Michael de Plater - so there are plenty of reasons to be excited.

Tom Clancy's EndWar: First screens and trailer (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=164640)
Wednesday 23-May-2007 5:40 PM Does Ubisoft's Clancy console RTS actually work? Dunno but this CGI looks quite pretty, doesn't it? And so do the shots...
Here you are then - the first trailer and screenshots from Tom Clancy's EndWar, a console RTS that could, quite possibly, actually control better than three-wheeled milk float thanks to some nifty voice-activated controls.
In case you've missed the first 20 news stories we've done on this game, it's being directed by ex-Total War man Michael de Plater - so there's reason to be excited if you're just a plain old strategy nutcase.

Thursday 24-May-2007 3:16 PM Third Echelon to provide intel and stealth for Ubisoft's console RTS
The likes of Third Echelon, Team Rainbow and The Ghosts are all set feature in Ubisoft's 360 RTS, inspired by the Tom Clancy universe.
The team behind EndWar spent its time at the recent Ubidays event talking up its console strategy title while talking down the console RTS genre in general. Nothing wrong with that, we're still waiting for a console RTS that controls as smoothly as they do on PC. We have our fingers crossed though for EndWar though, and Halo Wars.
World War III has broken lose in EndWar and Ubisoft is bringing the Ghosts, Team Rainbow and Third Echelon together in a combination of epic gaming brands from the Tom Clancy universe. "World War III is a pretty momentous event and the different elements of the Tom Clancy universe can come together in different roles," creative director Michael de Plater told CVG.
"The Ghosts are the ultimate elite soldiers of the US armed forces. They actually appear as elite forces in EndWar's armies. Some of the members of Team Rainbow, the European guys, also end up as military commanders and Third Echelon brings the intel. So it's really an over-arching story that sees many different genres and points of view come together for World War III."
When quizzed if we'll be able to call in Sam Fisher-type units to infiltrate an opponent's base, de Plater said, "Stealth is a big part of the game. You've got stealth units, commandoes and sniping and that's what Third Echelon brings to the battle."
We don't know about you, but EndWar sounds like the console RTS we've been waiting for. Read more about how you can control the entire game using your voice in our exclusive interview with de Plater here (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=164730).

Tom Clancy's EndWar will be playable using only voice commands, Ubisoft revealed in its Ubidays press conference, although there will also be the option to use a joypad.
It'll be the first new Tom Clancy game the publisher has created since Splinter Cell, and we were told to "imagine the apocalypse as a techno thriller" to get an idea of what to expect.
Ubisoft was also keen to highlight a new camera positioning that will feature in EndWar, likening it to the low camera experienced in Madden football games; looking over the shoulder of the player rather than at the head and back.
Tom Clancy's EndWar is a strategy game with online multiplayer for next-generation consoles, set on the battlefields of World War III.
It's expected to be one of the big names on the Ubidays show floor tomorrow. We'll be bringing you our impressions of it as soon as we can get within touching distance.

Tom Clancy's EndWar creative director Michael de Plater has said his game will feature a persistent online world campaign.
His comments come from a Q&A released as part of the press kit for the Ubidays event in Paris.
"Though it's a bit too early to reveal much of our intentions in terms of online multiplayer content, I can say that one of our most ambitious features is a massively-multiplayer persistent online world campaign," said Michael de Plater. "Every time you log in you will see the shifting front lines of an entire world at war, where everyone is participating in a unified global version of World War III."
EndWar is a fresh take on the Tom Clancy franchise, and takes place in 2020 amidst a global battle for power; World War III. You'll play the role of commander in this real-time strategy game, ordering around the most technologically advanced war machines of the 21st Century.
The biggest announcement to surface from Ubidays yesterday was that it will be completely voice activated, although you'll also be able to use a pad - meaning you can literally shout commands into the microphone and have your units carry them out. Plater insists this will work in several languages and that you won't have to learn "Shakespearean English" to have fun with it.
"I think EndWar is the epic war experience that every strategy game and every shooter - for the last decade - has been trying to make you imagine with computer-generated intros. Well now you don’t have to imagine, as EndWar creates that experience in real time.
"Combine that with the incredible 3D gameplay; the voice command system; the strong online multiplayer component; the apocalyptic World War III scenario; the ultimate 21st Century war machines; the Unreal 3 powered graphics; and I think we’ll offer strategy gamers something they have never experienced before."

Tom Clancy's EndWar will be publicly beta-tested later this year, judging by comments made by creative director Michael de Plater in an interview with Eurogamer. Ooh, that's us.
"We really believe that as soon as anyone can get their hands on the controls and experience it, it'll be something new and it's a level of immersion and realism and accessibility that's never really been in a strategy game," he said during Ubisoft's Parisian showcase yesterday.
"We're really focusing on getting our beta-test out for November."
De Plater also made it clear that the Tom Clancy World War III scenario outlined in EndWar could form the basis for other projects. "As you can see from looking at World War II [games], World War III is something that can be big enough to be explored from loads of different directions, loads of different theatres, genres - we really see this as the beginning of that," he said.
EndWar - a console strategy title that offers voice command support as well as pad controls, and has been developed from the ground up for consoles - is previewed elsewhere on the site today (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=76854). Now, actually. Get.

May 30, 2008 - Ubisoft will hold a private beta for its upcoming real-time strategy console game Tom Clancy's EndWar (http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/902/902336.html) this summer to help ready the title for its scheduled October launch.
Xbox 360 gamers with an Xbox Live gold membership, a broadband Internet connection and 3 GB of free hard drive space are invited to apply at the official Ubisoft EndWar beta Web site (https://www.endwarbeta.com/signup/default.html).
The beta will run for a three-week period in June and July and will feature three maps playable only online in 1v1 and 2v2 matches.
EndWar takes place in 2020, after strained resource supplies bring the nations of the world to war. In EndWar, players represent one of three national armies (U.S. Russia or Europe) and participate in massive multiplayer battles.
