DOOM was probably my first... I can't think of any before that. Maybe the first Duke Nukem... if that counts as one.

yeah for the snes i played both friday the 13th and the nightmare on elm street multi player game. both had crappy graphics but i found them to be at least mildly entertaining (ironically i thought simons quest was scarier then both of them combined) my first ps 1 scary game was re 2 which was a great experience though i hated the controls and died more times then i can count. my first ps 2 game was silent hill 2. i got to the apartments and couldn't solve all the puzzles leaving me a heap of angst filled frusteration. in general i find survival horror games get boring quick unless they are made exceptionally well with good game mechanics. i loved onimusha 2 and devil may cry but though they had a horror overtone they were more action thrillers then anything else.

the only survival horror title for the genesis was slaughter house. it was weird because you were this normal guy running through a large mansion trying to free your family members that monsters had kidnapped. when you juiced up you turned into this muscle bound mask waring maniac and could dish out serious punishment. it was sorta like a mild 2d version of the suffering. house of the dead was a cool zombie shooter for the dreamcast and was also in the arcades.

lolol I remember that game..in fact I still have it.
"chrissy was caught...who's next?" I never beat it. It was funny how Jason just appeared out of nowhere and started attacking you and then he would just take off again.

I think it was RE 1 for the gamecube... after playing that i loved it and bought 2 and 3 hated those 2 then i bought 0 and loved it. The key is get a little info on the game first.

If Doom counts, then it would definately be that. I was playing that back when it came out. I can't even remember the first survival horror game I played after that, I just know it was a Resident Evil game.

Horror game? Maybe 7th Guest back in the early 90's. Also, I used to play a lot of text adventures way back in the day.
