'Four' Play
Here's who'll play the Fantastic Four. It's Michael Chiklis as The Thing and ''King Arthur'''s Ioan Gruffudd as rubber-limbed Mr. Fantastic -- and as Invisible Girl, maybe Jessica Alba? by Gary Susman

SEE-THROUGH Will Alba go invisible for ''The Fantastic Four''?

Fans of Marvel's ''Fantastic Four'' may have been casting the movie version of the superhero saga in their heads for more than 40 years; now, 20th Century Fox has taken a crack at it. Variety and the Hollywood Reporter have confirmed the long-rumored signing of ''Shield'' star Michael Chiklis to play Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing, the rough-hewn clobberer whose body is made of orange rock. The trade papers say that Fox has also signed Ioan Gruffudd (currently onscreen as Lancelot in ''King Arthur'') as team leader Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, who can stretch his limbs like Silly Putty. ''The Perfect Score'''s Chris Evans will play Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the Human Torch, who can set himself aflame and manipulate fire.

As for the fourth member of the quartet -- Sue Storm, a.k.a. Invisible Girl, sister to Johnny and wife to Reed Richards -- it's down to a handful of hotties, led by ''Dark Angel'''s Jessica Alba. Other names that have been dropped are ''The Notebook'' star Rachel McAdams and ''Felicity'''s Keri Russell.

The Fantastic Four gained their powers as astronauts whose ship was bombarded with cosmic rays. Once transformed, the film foursome will find themselves fighting Dr. Doom, the Darth Vader-like megalomaniac who is the dictator of a country called Latveria.

Tim Story (''Barbershop'') will direct the film, making the leap to big-budget spectacles. He and the studio had better round up an Invisible Girl pretty fast, since Fox has scheduled the movie for release on July 1, 2005, the same holiday weekend that saw Marvel's ''Spider-Man 2'' set box office records this year. Meanwhile, we're sure that fans will have plenty to say about the casting, perhaps starting with Gruffudd, who seems a tad young to play the gray-templed Richards. Let the sniping and second-guessing begin.

as long as they get his story mostly right, and he doesn't have a stupid pansy voice I'll be alright. He needs to have a deep somewhat robotic voice with a German accent.

Acting Up a Storm
Jessica Alba completes ''Fantastic Four'' cast. The ''Dark Angel'' star will play Sue Storm, a.k.a. Invisible Girl, opposite Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffudd, and Chris Evans by Gary Susman

Jessica Alba demonstrated her super-powers on TV's ''Dark Angel,'' but her heroics may go unseen in her next movie. That's because she's playing Sue Storm, a.k.a. Invisible Girl, in the upcoming ''Fantastic Four.'' According to the Hollywood Reporter, Alba's casting, rumored last week, is now official. She beat out such reported contenders for the role as ''The Notebook'''s Rachel McAdams, ''Felicity'''s Keri Russell, and Elizabeth Banks, who plays Daily Bugle staffer Betty Brant in the ''Spider-Man'' movies. She completes a cast that includes ''The Shield'' star Michael Chiklis, ''King Arthur'''s Ioan Gruffudd, and ''The Perfect Score'''s Chris Evans.

Alba's character is the love interest for Reed Richards (Gruffudd) and one of four astronauts who become super-powered mutants after their ship is bombarded with cosmic rays. Richards becomes rubber-limbed Mr. Fantastic, while Sue's brother Johnny (Evans) becomes the pyrotechnic Human Torch, and pal Ben Grimm (Chiklis) becomes the orange-brick creature known as The Thing. Tim Story (''Barbershop'') is directing the film, which 20th Century Fox expects to release next July.

because this is the time to do it, now that they can do so much with movies, before they all sucked, now is there time to make the hero comeback and there doing it, i'd like to see a super boy movie, and many others

what I think they should do, since hollywood is on a superhero kick, is get Tim Burton on a new Batman. As long as Tim Burton does it, it won't suck. I could also see them making a Wolverine movie... hell, he's the reason that a lot of people watch the X-Men movies anyway.

i never was fond of the fantastic 4. there the type of heroes that are cool in comics but would look dorky on the big screen. the only person that would be cool from the ff comic is dr. doom.. he is so bad ass. i'm waiting for another blade movie and another dare devil movie. if elektra really died that's the stupidest thing they could have done. lastly i agree lath. they should really make a wolverine comic. perhaps it could be based on the really good weapon x comic and focus somewhat on his time spent with alpha flight.

I think with CG effects the F4 can be done well. It'll look cheesy, but that's a given. It's a comic book movie.

btw... I was watching something on comic book movies the other night and Stan Lee said there is an Iron Man movie in the works. :D

they couldnt do much with the fantastic 4 until now, and now i think they will do a great job for the big screen, IMO it will fit in with the last few like spiderman 1/2 dare-devil, hulk... i mean, it has to be better then hulk

I'd hope it's better than the Hulk. I don't know what they were thinking. A mix of 80% Banner, 20% Hulk isn't great. I wanted more of "Hulk Smash".

War Machine rules! lol, i remember when i was little and saw him first he looked like nothing to me but iron man in black and white... i just thought it was an old comic :P

Chicken Little

and hawkeye with hypnotia...she was hawt ^_^

but the F4 can go many ways with adding in the Silver Surfer and Thanatos which would then also tie to spiderman as ive already said in another thread. If they make the thing like the hulk i will be very disappointed, he should look more like hellboy except rock and bigger. 'Its clobberin time' And while Jessica Alba would need to be blonde I like others are not sure about the casting of reed richards, yeah he is a little young but that could be easily fixed with makeup. The problem i have is with the attitude because when you see him hes quick witted, vastly intelligent and corny while maintaining his coolness as an old guy of the group and father figure / husband. I couldnt really see, by his acting as lancelot him doing that all that well. Though i dont question his acting abilities i do question where i think he will take the role.

I'm sure they can make the torch look really cool with CG. I can't wait to see some screens of it.

From Plastic to 'Fantastic'
Who'll play Dr. Doom in ''Fantastic Four''? It's ''Nip/Tuck'''s Julian McMahon who'll go behind the mask of the scientist-turned-dictator by Gary Susman

DOCTORATE DECREE ''Nip/Tuck'''s McMahon will play another kind of doctor in ''Fantastic Four''

On FX's ''Nip/Tuck,'' Julian McMahon plays a hotshot cosmetic surgeon, but now, he'll play someone who could use an extreme makeover. According to Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, the Australian actor has been cast as Dr. Doom, the villain in the upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation ''Fantastic Four.'' As comics fans know, Victor von Doom is a disfigured scientist who lives a Darth Vader-like existence behind a metal mask and superpowered body armor. He's also the megalomaniacal dictator of an Eastern European country called Latveria.

McMahon, who stars as Dr. Christian Troy on ''Nip/Tuck,'' will join a cast that includes fellow FX star Michael Chiklis (''The Shield''), Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, and Chris Evans as the heroic quartet. The movie goes into production in Vancouver this month for 20th Century Fox (which, like FX, is a News Corp. outlet). Tim Story (''Barbershop'') is directing, with an eye toward a release date next July.

you'd be suprised how well it may turn out. I had very low expectations of the actor that played Doctor Octopus, but when I say Spidey 2 today I was actually a little impressed with how it turned out.
