They have strict law for girls that it is not allowed, but for boys? I hate that parents take it for granted that their son would want to get rid off his "skin"

--> Read here for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision

The only damage it does is (from what I've heard) make it a centimeter or two smaller, whereas it reduces risk of infection... more importantly, you're a minor when it's done... so it really doesn't matter whether or not you want it to happen.

I'm glad I was. The bleeding and what not is much more serious when you are an adult. It reduces your chance of infection. Moreover, it is simply less of a hassel if you are circumcized.

Doesn't bother me, hell I don't remember it. I have two other brothers, the youngest isn't circumcized. I've never seen any difference.

I was done when I was a child. Its a very good idea to be circumcised as a child. Its easier to clean. And for those like us who are lazy. Its a pro I guess.

It is a common thng to do anymore. It is just done and thats it really.

While it has indeed been shown to reduce the risk of infection, i wonder just how many parents really had that in mind when they made the decision, and how many of them were doing it for religous purposes without thinking about it at all. It doesnt matter either way in the end, I guess though.

They have strict law for girls that it is not allowed
Clitoridectomy! Say it with me... Clitoridectomy!

Actually doing that....theres a article up on wikipedia about that too...done normally in african tribes to leave the female unable to later in life enjoy sexual intercourse. *shrugs* At least it doesn't affect us in that way. >.>

I had an infection when I was younger and they had to circumcise me, I remember pissing blood and how bad it felt, and I remember how bad it felt to get circumcised.. but now, I dont really care... I am use to it so I guess I am happy about it

I'm uncircumcised, but I'm never had a problem with it, since I've always kept it clean.
Clitoridectomy! Say it with me... Clitoridectomy!
And it's an inhumane and disturbing (not to mention painful) procedure. As far as I know it's illegal in most civilized countries.

I looked it up a while back when I was reading about Chinese Foot Binding for my history class and the book referenced clitoridectomies as being the only things comparable. It's a terrible thing to do, but fun to say.

Clitoridectomies and foot binding= relevant! Don't know how... I was pretty sure we were talking about circumcisions, and suddenly we got on the topic of horrendous body "modifications."

Well, okay, I guess I can see the relation...

Clitoridectomies are female circumscisions, essentially.

They're called female circumcisions, and occur in the genital area, but that's where the similarities end. Male circumcision is, for the most part, painless, and nothing is lost by it. Clitoridectomy is painful, illegal, and removes a woman's ability to enjoy sex, which may be practical for some people, but to deny what is undeniably intended by nature to be pleasurable is just wrong.

By all means, feel free to defend the following as having a place in serious discussion:

Not to mention the amount of time it has been described as being a "female circumcision."

This is a forum where we can discuss how funny the word homozygous is because it has "homo" in it.

It's the best analogy to help explain the concept of a clitoridectomy.

This is a forum where we can discuss how funny the word homozygous is because it has "homo" in it.
Meh...

Shit, I chuckled... Look, okay, admittedly, we're a a simple bunch, but by god, we try...

Well, this is not the place for such and I'll be damned if I let this forum turn into another Rec Room.

Either talk about an issue seriously, or create your threads in the Rec. Room.

I realize neither of you started the thread, but by all means you can start one there after this.

Circumsized at birth. Glad I was too. All this talk of cleaning and infection is nasty. And the idea that in rare cases, if the infection gets worse enough, the surgical procedure might involve the snip-snip of more than the foreskin. I wouldn't take risks like that.

I hardly consider circumcision a double standard and you'd have to be retarded to even consider that as a point. Male circumcision is ultimately painless, good for health, and does not take away from your sex drive. While clitoridectomy is basically the opposite.

Deity has a point. People actually trying to make points are falling on deaf ears. Besides, the lack of opposition makes this thread pointless, as it was started by a jackass who hasn't posted in it since a vague dissent was expressed.

Who the f**k wants to have their hotdog gristle trimmed?! :(

But parents make that decision for their sons. Well, whatever...there's arguments for and against.

It has no negative side effects, so why not?

Besides, now my penis has no hat.

More or less, it's the simple "ouch" factor when discussing the procedure. Most men I know get kind of uncomfortable about the idea of having a knife near their penises, not to mention the surgical mutilation of the aforementioned member... And in all reality, if you keep up with your hygenic practices, there's really no risk of infection. Personally, I won't have my son circumcised (assuming I have a son), since my father made the same decision on my behalf.

Then again, that's just my opinion. I've been wrong before...

It comes down to opinion, after all facts are reviewed, because the only difference (according to clinical studies, mind you), is the decision to wash or not to wash.
