That was probably my fault. I should have been a bit more clear that I wanted to try to keep this in the order that was posted originally to keep it organized. You would have been after Smash, but Saphy stepped in and took Sora's character, and since Sora had originally posted after him, Saphy was going to have the next one. It's not a huge deal this round, so long as we get an order for everyone to post in set.

Er, well, in the RP cards for them, it was specifically set up that the characters would meet with one or the other based on their alignment. Yours is obviously evil/cruel, so the "dark" death would be the one to appear to your character. The Death that appeared to Holly and my character simply wouldn't appear to your character, it's out of character for her to do so, since such people wouldn't be in her jurisdiction, so to speak.

I was done, didn't like it, spoke to Sora, got more info on Jake, re-wrote his bio myself, re-wrote the RP (almost done) but didn't quite finish because of how sick I've been, and I'm still really drained (I don't know what kind of virus this is but it leaves me drained)

Okies, I pretty much gave the okay for Luther to join, but now that I think about it, it's more fair to get input from you guys too.

I'm fairly certain there will be no objection to his joining, the question I want to ask you guys is whether we should have him put his character info and opening posts (he could do both his character's death and entry into Afterworld in one post) before we move on and retcon my narration post, or should we have it where his character arrives in Afterworld after ours do rather than around the same time, and move onward with our own posts rather than waiting for him to catch up?

Either way is fine for me, though either way I'd like him to at least get a character card made before we move on.

I'm in agreement, with an RP, the more characters, the more fun and involved it tends to be. (though when you get 20+ members like one I was involved with on GW and one specific person has to post about something and they becoe inactive, well, that bites, but in this case I'm sure we can work around it should it happen)

So, I'm giving him a day or so to tell me whether or not he's interested still, if I don't get a response, then we'll move on, if he's interested still, I'll probably have him put his stuff up on his own time, and we can move on instead of waiting for him. His character will just enter the story at that later point then, and we can get the RP moving again.

Well, if I were going to guess, I'd say he'd wind up with the "good" Death. He claims to "not be a good man", yet he goes out of his way to avoid killing even those he dislikes. The type that the Yang Death would typically meet with would have allowed them to meet their demise, or killed them himself.

Though not knowing too much of the character's background yet, I dunno if I could say for certain. He's another character that could go either way.

I'd say I'm about halfway done with writing my next post. The problem I'm running into is that I've reached a point where the writing "feels" finished, but I haven't actually gotten anywhere story-wise. @_@

Actually I really liked yours, it's moving along in terms of development and different things. Pretty kickin.

This whole round was pretty good overall, I think. Length isn't much of an issue with me as is the quality of the work.

The order is: Tessa/Hotaru -> Holly/Princess Hardin -> Nick/Stargunner -> Adam/Walnut -> Yvl -> Luther

Updated Tea's RP Card (http://www.evermoreforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=282754&postcount=30), making it hopefully a little easier to read as well as giving a slight buff to her in regard to the "exceed" abilities I added for her.

Hopefully nobody finds this to be overpowering the character, as the sheer immensity of the odds against the cards actually falling into place that way in a hand compensate for the buffs to the attacks, which are actually really minor, save the Four of a Kind one, which would require her to get all of the aces in one hand.

So yeah.

Also, I'll be working on my next post tonight. I plan to have it up by tomorrow night at the latest.

Yes, in every case that she's used the cards so far (which is only in the intro as of now), I've been using an actual deck of cards to determine what hand she's coming up with. The only exception so far is the hand with the Joker that caused her death, which I didn't actually draw.

That's how I plan to do it for all future uses of her abilities, except for when she "has" to get something for story purposes, which should be rare.

Within the next few posts, the first encounters are going to start happening, I think. From the descriptions in the posts, it seems like Ruby, Tea, and possibly Luther are in the same general area.

Whether the other three are anywhere close to each other seems a bit more vague right now, but it's possible.

Also, note that the other characters you meet up with first are not neccesarily the ones you have to team up with.

Just a few things I wanted to point out, story wise, as without them I'm thinking my post could be somewhat misleading.

First off, the "your past life reflects what your current self looks like" thing applies to everyone but the main characters. They're not supposed to be in Afterworld to begin with, and so they keep their original forms, regardless of whether or not they would have anyways.

Second, it's a fairly decent idea, I think, that the "starting area" that everyone wound up in is more or less an illusion that will not fade until the characters fully cope for real with their own death. That doesn't mean that everyone has to be in completely different surroundings than they thought, and the characters who were near (or at least implied they were near) others can still be close. But until their death has been fully accepted by them, they will be trapped in some variety of an endless area.

Also (mainly addressed to Holly), though I think it's fairly obvious what I'm trying to lead my post into, it's up to other members when they want to finally meet up under whatever conditions.

EDIT: Wow, that really stuck home, I felt like I could really relate to that man, I've been in a several year long depression of sorts before, and about him being happy that his wife seems content, yeah, I feel that way about someone even now, I really felt like that man and I had an awful lot in common, it only made the story that much more vivid and moving, I'm quite impressed!

Okay, so over the past couple weeks I've been working on themes for characters in Afterworld. Yes, themes, as in, musical. o_o

So far I've only done the two 'deaths' themes, so now that I'm past that, I wanted to ask you all here what kind of instruments/melody idea/usage you would want your RP char to have, that would suit them. Hell, even names of instruments can work out, I can even create something from there if you want to be surprised.

I often listen to these songs when in a writting mood, and adjust writting based on the character of the song...

I'd rather write it once for everyone to see rather than PM the same thing multiple times, so it's going here.

The main point of the idea Nick and I discussed was that, since by nature encounters between characters will involve a lot of back-and-forth posting, that fights between characters will take place in seperate threads.

For example, the one coming up within a turn or so will almost definately be between Ruby and Tea. Once both characters have actually run into each other, on my next turn (since I'm first in the line of turns), I'd make a new thread and post in it as if it was still in the main one. In the main thread I'd post a link to that post, and the encounter would occur there. Rather than having to wait for everyone to go before continuing the encounter, the people involved can just post back and forth until the encounter is finished. That thread then counts as the turn for both characters that round.

Sure, though honestly I'm not really all that experienced with it either. The main point is not to overpower your character, and to avoid taking too many liberties in writing for your opponent. I'm on Yahoo when I get off work, usually, so I'll try to talk to you about it there when I see you.

Sort of. But I guess you could call it a 'NPC fight'.

NPC = Non-Player Character for those not in the know. o.o

Which I assume you could still do NPC fights from time to time, but PvP fights are probably better storyline wise and just plain fun.

With two of the members on LOAs, the RP is again on hiatus.

It was already more or less there anyways, I was hoping to hold out for Saphy's return until his actual LOA was made, but Nick leaving as well pretty much decides it.

In the meantime, if we want to use the time to try to hammer out some of the RP mechanics (such as the item system I suggested, or working out the details of guidelines for encounters, etc), then there's no reason not to keep doing that in here while we wait.

So yeah, I actually have yet to start on mine, been pretty pre-occupied with music stuff. Some of which is related to Afterworld. Yeah, I'm still fooling around with themes for stuff. :P

I have a name list, along with the genre/type planning idea I plan to compose it in:
