Best PS2 game?

What do you think the best PS2 game is so far? I'm not asking what your favorite is, I wanna know what game you think best utilizes the PS2's capabilities to their maximum as well as exceptional story and characters; graphics, memory, music, story, consider them all.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance

OMG, I love the joking theater, where you can swap the characters for other characters.

FF10 did damn good, as did 10-2 on graphics

they did good with Jade cacoon 2 for making it a pritty good game when the first was lacking any greatness..

not sure what i'd call the one and/or only best

Yeah, Substance is definitely up there, lol. I cant really think of any other games immediately...

hmm...

Soul Calibur 2 has great graphics, a superb soundtrack, a very well developed storyline and characters, very high replay value, and hundreds of techniques to memorize.

Suikoden 3... it's a suikoden game with PS2 quality graphics and sound. nuff said.

Yeah, there are several games that could be considered top-of-the-line for PS2. But i'm sticking w/ substance. Personally, i think it was better than S3

After conisdering all the options I would say it's a toss up between four games:FFX, Disgaea, Suikoden III, Soul Calibur 2. All four of those have great music, FFX and Soul Calibur 2 have the graphics covered and the stories are of good quality. Disgaea and Suikoden III have the better stories and music and very memorable characters. I tried to narrow it down to at least two but couldn't...so sue me!!:chuckle

I'm sure there are a lot more that are equal to the games that I listed, but I really haven't played a lot of PS2 games. I've only gone through about two dozen of them.

Disgaea is fast becoming what i think is the best game on PS2, although Metal Gear kicks some serious butt as well.

lol all of the ones I listed were rpgs except for Soul Calibur 2. I love that game so much and is the only fighting game I'm good at..well I'm just decent at it now..>_>

best games and predicted hits in my warped opinion.


best 3d fighter= soul calibur 2 (same for x-box then its a close one between it and doa 2 hard core)

best 2d fighter: guilty gear x-2. and...it actually has a decent storyline and original characters! (though bridgette the girl looking boy is a bit 'TOO' original in my opinion. and i'm actually good with him. shudder.)

best puzzle adventure: ico. way underated, though i admit the controls occasionally weigh down the fun experience.

best survival horror: don't know haven't played the recent ones. proably re out break,fatal frame 2, or the suffering.

best rpg: hmmm. toughie. no, i'm not saying ff x-2 that would be blasphemy. xeno saga could be or star ocean till the end of time. oh! dysgae and suikoden 4 could be contenders as well.

best action adventure thriller: i liked lament of innocence but many said it was not nearly as good as prince of persia. i'm not voting for dmc 3 because i haven't played it. (plus 2 sucked despite the hype). crimson sea 2 is supposed to be killer.

best 3d platformer: proably jak 2. haven't played it though.

best racing game: twisted metal black, at least for me personally. the twisted metal games are the only racing games ashely and alex can get me to play.

best espionage: most likely metal gear twin snakes though i hear syphon filter is good as well as the other tom clancy games.

hottest chick: jennifer tate from primal or rayne from blood rayne. they're actually realistically proportioned!

best super hero title: spider man 2

best co-op: baldurs gate da 2 is alot funner with two people playing. dynasty warriors 3 is great two player. haven't played return of the king but it's supposed to be the only 2 player lotr game.

best sports: sorry don't play em.

id have to go with... well im different but id say from what ive played on PS2 so far... Shadow Hearts i guess... or maybe even Kingdom Hearts.. (whats with the Hearts games... hmm..? lol)

MGS 2 is the ultimate PS2 player's friend. Probably the best game made to date for the PS2.

Anywho, the game that best utlizes the PS2 would be between FF10, SC2 and Tekken 5. Maybe Tekken 5 just peeks out on top due to the gorgeous music, backgrounds and FMV (better than SC2, less annoying tha FF10). Then again, SC3 looks to blast Tekken 5 outta the water. I guess I'll have to wait.
