Is Peter Jackson canoodling again with 'The Hobbit'?

"MORDOR!"

Sorry, I never cease to amuse myself by shouting that word in my best Ian McKellen timbre. Want to try it with me?

"MORDOR!"

See? Awesome, right? Okay, yes, I'm going somewhere with this. Remember last week's hullabaloo about Peter Jackson saying that New Line had booted him off The Hobbit, thanks to a lawsuit he'd filed seeking profits from the Lord of the Rings trilogy? Well, according to a story in today's New York Times, the big-boned lady may not have sung yet -- at least not according to MGM, which owns the distribution rights to The Hobbit. (Thanks to Movie City News for the heads up.) “We support Peter Jackson as a filmmaker, and believe that when the dust settles, he’ll be making the movie. We can’t imagine any other result," explained a spokesman for MGM. To which I say, "MORDOR!" (Sorry.)

I don't think anyone else would make the movie. It'd be suicide for another director to try to follow Jackson if the movie is about middle earth.

exactly, he still has some of the sets on his property. I read that he had the Bag End set as a guest house. but yeah, no one should do it but him.

Haha yeah, it would be. I hope he does follow through and finish it off, though!
