Anyone got any good tips for getting rid of a bad toothache while your waiting to go to the dentist? I've had one for a few days...I've tried everything I can think of..short of banging my head up against a wall...lol Going to the dentist Friday..seems that's the only time I can get in. Any wise comments would be appreciated!

Only time I ever get them is when I get cold food over it like ice cream. Dunno really what to do besides not doing the thing that provokes it usually. But have you tried orajel. Its a good mouth ointment. Maybe if you place it aroudn teh base of the tooth it might help a bit.

I used to use those BIG painkiller thingies...That disolve in water. They worked really well.
I also found that lying down with the bad tooth pressed against a hot water bottle or a cushion worked.

There's also this special gel stuff you can get...You put it over the tooth and around it a little and it's got some cooling effect that soothes the ache. I've never tried it myself, but my brother
has and it worked alright for him.

Hope I helped ^_^

drink a gallon of whiskey. that should help. :P

anyway... buy some over the counter numbing stuff for toothaches and take some motrin migraine along with it.

Painkillers.

The only toothaches I have had sucked. I was born with weak enamel, so basically my root was exposed.

I cried -_-;;;

So thats all I can tell you.

Anbesol. Some OTC (I think) numbing agent. I bet if you put that on your nose you couldn't smell for a week... it's strong as hell.

taking antibiotics really isn't a good idea. they won't do anything at all for you.

Heard dad took you to the dentist today and you got yourself some painkillers and such, see now you can take care of it like the good lord intended, with perscription painkillers.

You try Anbesol? It might sound wierd, but you won't feel that side of your mouth all day.

Thanks Lathan...takes 2 weeks for an absess to heal. I go back December 15th to have these 3 pulled. Dr. Inman in Carlisle is where I go....great dentist.

And thanks again e1 for the suggestions and advice.

I'm sorry to hear all of that about your teeth Lisa. I hope it heals up soon. I have a wisdom tooth coming in and it's starting to feel very uncomfortable.

What a coincidence. I've got a toothache, too. Every time I bite down on food with the left side of my mouth, a tooth on the right side hurts. Weird.

Yes..that is weird. I can't even eat on the side that's been giving me problems...grrrrr. Hope you found something to get rid of that problem...does sound like you'll need to get to the dentist though.....(I know..they aren't cheap)
