I've decided even if there isn't too large of a following,
I'd still like to start another one of these weekly threads.

I have thus decided to soon begin a weekly thread similar to the weapons one - only showing the differant types of combat soldiers or fighters out there...
Things like knights, samurai, ninja, privateers, desert raiders...
all will be seen in depth and with historical accuracy - with their weapons, fighting styles, tactics, ways of life, historical records, and even mythology...

I really hope this will attract some to the forum, and at least be a regular thing for those who come here to the battlefield every week...

Tell me what you guys think, the more support I have for this the better...

I plan to start this after the next few shows,
and would love some reccomendations and suggestions...
( perhaps every month everyone picks two and has them fight in a deathmatch ).

make the first one Musashi. :cool

and if he has to be in a deathmatch it'll be...

Musashi vs Hector (assuming that Hector was a real person)

No...no, I'm sorry - but the thread will not be individuals.
It will involve categories of warriors.
Not to say that the followers of his style wouldn't be considered a category - Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu itself created a breed of fighting men quite particular in Japanese culture,
and I would love to compare them to Gendai Budo arts -
like Aikido and Kendo...

Common ones will be like,
Doppelsoldier, Stradiot, Hoplite ( region specific ), Yamabushi,
Hospitaler Knight, Marmaluke, Samurai ( by style, region, time period ), Schiavoni, Kern, Hussar, Huskarl, Janissary, Mangudai...

It will also go into combat techniques and styles ( basing of practicioners of said styles ).

This will involve styles of fencing ( florentine for instance ),
style of martial arts ( particular to budo or modern ) but only in conjunction to similar periods,
and other combat styles.

Doesnt mean you can't include those famous individuals in your description. Honestly this interests me ALOT more than weapon of the week, as I'm more of a general-type than a soldier-type.

Quite so - doppelsoldier where a type of german infantry I'm unfortunately all too familiar with.

My best friend along with many fellow swordsmen I've known run this category and fight as them. ( and it's annoying because their all over 6 feet and I'm 5' 6''...)

Like all my friends, they were massive men who used large german swords, and were used as shock infantry - mostly to cut the heads of pikes...

Wait until the thread and I'll tell you how they got their name...

And i do agree, I'll post some examples of the types such as famous figures and leaders...

Cool, are you gonna do Amazonian Warriors as well, or are they a myth?

Amazonians were fictional greek warriors, and would thus not count. There were clans though that held female cadre separate from male warriors found in the Amazon basin - by which it was named after - and they would be interesting to speak of...
