What is it about music that gives it such beauty? Why do we enjoy it?
Sure, there is rhythm, tones, harmony, etc. But why are we attracted to it over just plain old noise?

I think you answered your own question. Rhythm, tones, harmony...they all resonate within us and soothe us. OF course, each person has their own preference, which is why one perosn could be calmed by Bethoven whereas someone else would feel the same effects from heavy metal.

its the feeling in the music... i dont know why, but i like sad songs..makes me feel sad...and i somehow feel better when im sad..like, i should feel sad for how my life has been, but i dont..til i listen to music... so i listen to music to get the feelings i thould already have...without it..i feel nothing

Well, there are some songs that I relate to. Some make me feel emotional. Some make me think of when I was young and give me that wonderful feeling of nostalgia. Music also helps me to relax. People who write music find it to be a powerful tool of expression.

It all depends on the music style itself...many types of music just strenghten your thoughts, allowing you to think a little better, some kinds inspire things in young and old minds alike...yet other kinds are pure releases from your stress, anger, and other problems...thats why i think people as a whole find beauty in music

I use music to write, depending on the music, is how I write. I wrote my first novel listening to metallica's black album and the second to Godsmack first & second album. It always puts scenes in my head and I write them.

Music simply gives our emotions a focal point and allows us to concentrate on a specific feeling or set of feelings.

Lyrics can help us remember things, and we can relate to them and remember moments of happiness etc.

I don't know. It brings my imagination to life. It makes me think of...Things that make me happy and sad. There's something amazing about it that I just don't understand.

I usually like music that either just sounds good...that I can move too...
Or just music that I relate too...It could be a crappy song, but the lyrics could make me love it...

I have no idea why I like music...I guess because it helps me get my mind off things. Almost everything I listen to is dark to some extent, as there's very little "happy" music that does anything but depress me.

How the fuck did I miss this thread?
Music is one of the biggest things in my life I have yet to come up with an answer to. It's also easily the single most important part of my life. I hardly ever go more than an hour without listening to music if I can help it. Yet I don't understand it.
And quite honestly, I don't want to understand it. It's one of the few things that remains romanticized in my mind. I couldn't cope with knowing that music has this certain biological effect on you to make you feel this way. I prefer thinking of it as its own world.

I love drumming to music, it's entertaining and gets me goin, lol. I guess it's the rythm of the music. The lyrics somewhat to.

The beats, tones, rhythm, and the singing. It all makes it good. Some even relaxing and soothing.

Its in the way that it moves me. Music is a key to my writing.

For me, I enjoy music because it is the audio manifestation of our deepest most basic yet complex emotions... the music can move you to write, smile, cry... Music is my single reason for existence. I normally do nothing without some sort of music around me.
I just really don't know how to put it to words, truthfully. I could ramble for days and make no sense.
